suspension help HFP

Hello everyone....

I'm in need of a little help. I searched but still am left with questions.

I'm finally going to lower my car and get the windows tinted. For the sake of my warranty and other reasons I want to go with the honda HFP lowering package. The roads here are pretty bad so I want just to lower 1 inch. Since I work at a honda dealership I can use my discount and get a good price. i tried looking up the part numbers and I am only finding 04-05 sets for the coupe. will those fit my 2002 coupe? or are they out their and I'm not finding them.

Thanks

Re: suspension help HFP

04-05 front struts have different top mount bearings then 01-02, they also have 16mm bottom mount holes vs. 14mm. Rears should be the same for both cars. You'll probably need new top mounts and 8 x 14-16mm bushings if you go with the 04-05 HFP suspension.

ahhh don't get the HFP kit, you have to do all kinds of custom work, and pay way more for an inferior setup than aftermarket! Prokit does 1" and get blues=way cheaper

Re: suspension help HFP

the hfp is a better setup with the stock valve staging shocks (softens for bumps and tightens for corners). blues are just stiffer all the time. theres nothing wrong with aftermarket, but the hfp was made specifically for the civic.

Re: suspension help HFP

I have a 2002 civic EX with the HFP suspension. If I remember tonight Ill look at the part numbers for them. They are out of the car because I have koni's and ground controls. they will be a direct bolt on for a 2001 and 2002. I tend to rememvber looking up the part numbers for the rears on majestic honda and couldn't find them. Ill try to take pictures of them and post them up. They look different. When I bought the seconed set of fronts for the koni inserts I was confused because they looked different but then I remembered that my HFP shocks and springs aren't usually seen ever. Ill let eveyone know what they look like.

Re: suspension help HFP

Ok here is a picture of the two front shocks. The main differences I can tell are the dust boot and there is a thing on top of the shock. You can see that better in the seconed picture.

Here is the part number. Also you can see that the sticker is on top of a additional metal piece that has those 4 tabs you can see near the bottom. I thing it is just to seperate the 2 different kinds of shocks.

That number is 08W60-S5P-0M00-B1 the right is the same number except that is has a R on it.

Here is the rears. They look the same.

That part number is 08E60-S5P-0M00-D1. Both of the rears had the big L on them as well. Hope this helps.

where does my 03 stand? would it be with the 04's since it has mostly 04 traits or 02's since it looks like an 02 on the outside?

ive always been interested in getting that suspension setup.

well they changed the front shocks in 03, so I would assume the HFP kit would fit your 03... it's not the first time honda decided not to market their stuff for different models or years (OEM lip kits)

ok so if im reading all this info right, theres a Honda Factory Performance suspension kit which is pretty much a shock and spring combo by honda, that lowers our civics about 1 inch..... Now also they dont make them for the 01-02 but for 03 and up....

now the 03+ HFP suspension kit, bolts right up for 01 and 02 civic's??? am i hearing this correctly?? I mean what more than peace of mind with a honda certified drop ya know..... the alignment shop wouldnt be able to say anything, and honda wouldnt be able to call you out and say warranty!!!

ok im subscribed to this... i wanna know. Cause i was thinking about the tokico combo with some springs, or tein basics, but then again, i didnt really want a bunch of lip from people that work on my car wheel and tire wise.

ANSWERS!!! lol im excited... hey bullet02, how much do they run normally??

Im not sure If the spring is shorter or if the lower spring perch is mounted lower. Either way yes the car is an inch lower. Yes they did make them for 2001 and 2002 bc I have a 2002 and it came with the HFP suspension when I bought it used. I don't remember if the 2003 had 14mm or 16mm bolts for the strut. the 2002 has 14 and thats what my HFP suspension has. I liked the suspension a lot. The only thing is I would recomend a rear camber kit because my car stock had -2.5 degrees of camber making it plow everywhere. Once I set that to 0 it was awesome.

so yea if the 02's had the option available for the HFP suspension, then the 02's should bolt up directly for the 01's. Now the problem is trying to find that HFP kit.

I think it'd be a waste of time in all honesty IMO for the HFP kit, the OP'er got a sweet deal on it b/c he works at a dealership, I forget exactly what it costs but aftermarket has better performance anyways from what I gather

Seem wouldn't you be able to just go on majestic, and enter the number, seeing as how its the same database. I did that, at all searches brought up nothing.

I can always find a friend of mine who can get me Honda parts for the stealership price, thats not the problem... its just that like i was saying above ... ^yeah that makes sense, I guess I'm biased because I hate the darn stealership, I only go there to get ATF or turn signal bulbs haha. The car is just too well made for me to take advantage of the warranty

Re: suspension help HFP

truth, the car is well made, but see this time im only concerned with my tires warranty. That little 50,000 miles till u need new ones as long as u keep them aligned, balanced and rotated. See at the place i bought my wheels, they were all like, if u go the aftermarket route and lower ur car we can't touch it to align it, and blah blah, in order to get the 50k mile warranty thing for my tires they have to align them. And seeing as how imma take full advantage of them saying the tires last as long as they do, this would be ideal for me, considering if it were lowered with Honda parts lol.

just talking about tires and treadwear is confusing me now with this HFP kit. If the car is lowered even 1" it will still make the car go like this / \ and make the uneven treadwear.. It makes me wonder if they sell the kit w/ a proper camber arm that would go with the shocks/struts and spring package? I'm confused like whoa now

I wonder what they were thinking w/o including matching camber arms for the rears and bolts for the front.. maybe this package maintains proper OEM wheel allignment w/o one? I have no idea how they could manage that though

Well i guess ill state it again that when I had the HFP on my car I had -2.5 degrees of rear camber on the car. I only had irregular wear on my tires from the front having so much akerman built in, and running 0 toe all around. The rear wear was fine as long as you align the toe to around 0. I wish I could have a set of tires last me 50,000 miles. I went through my first set in about 17,000. Then again I drive harder more often then most people. I just buy used tires now, and have a seconed set of wheels for my good street/autocross/track tires.

kinda like Honda pulling 240hp out of a 2.0L N/A 4-cylinder (s2k)

ALso dude i drive my car hard as crap, and im not expecting them to last 50k miles, thats y im really wanting this warranty thing to come through. Oh it will be an awesome day when they dont last 50k, and i have followed all the rules, and they have to fork over new tires for meh..
