Tein H-Tech tons of rear sag..WTF?
Tein H-Tech tons of rear sag..WTF?
Ok, a friend had tein h-techs installed on a 05 civic coupe 1month ago and the rear has already sagged to the point that there's only 1 finger gap left...wtf is up with that? i also bought the h-techs but have yet to install mine...i grabbed the h-techs because they were supposed to be a very very minimal 0,8" drop...pisses me off that they end up being about a 2" drop in the rear....if i had known that they were gonna be so crappy, i could have purchased a different brand of springs w/ a stiffer spring rate....

do you have subs in the back? that could be weighing it down.. It could also be your shocks. Mine were going and I replaced them w/ blues, now my ride height is the same front and rear, when before it was kindof saggy.

wow.....not gonna lie...I have never heard or seen H-Techs that sag....and especially that much....I have S-Techs and mine dont sag period....I would take them off and return them and a diff spring like you said....or maybe tell Tein about what happened and take pictures and they will probably either give you a full refund or they will send you new springs.....they have a 1 year warranty that their spings will be free from manufacturer defect.......and they are guaranteed not to sag more than 5mm.
Re: Tein H-Tech tons of rear sag..WTF?
my friend's car has a sub in the trunk but it cant be more than 50lbs at most...50lbs should not make it sag so much....
as for the shocks, the car is a fairly new 05 coupe w/ around 30,000kms on the odometer and the shocks do not feel as if they are blown. they do a much better job of damping compared to my 02 worn out stock suspension.
for myself, i have brand new tokico blues that i intend to install w/ the tein h-techs. the springs were purchased from a local authorized tein dealer and the springs appear to be authentic(ie. spring markings are not stickers)

My h-techs have less then a 1 finger gap in the rear. My subs are to blame. When I had my spare back there it was even worse.
I don't think the rears are blown. Haven't noticed anything to suggest they are.

anyways, i have my h-techs insatalled now...they are coupled w/ new tokico blues...the combo is almost too soft...it's only a tiny bit stiffer than stock or i'm just imaging it is(either that or my stock suspension was just so worn that it was bumpy)...
there's 2 fingergap in the rear(1.25" lower than before) and 3 fingergap in the front....
the rears look nice (even though the rear dropped more than 1.5" lower than stock) but i wish teh front will drop another fingergap....the front is actually sitting at the exact same height before the drop...i guess my original front suspension was already sagged one inch...

whattt too soft? the stiff springs are still there, that "soft" feeling is just the gas shock properly taking the bumps so theres less feel.. the performance spring rates are still all there for good cornering

I wouldn't worry red. I just put in the pro kits with blues and I smile everytime I drive now instead of stress. the h techs have a similar rating to prokits so I would expect them to be comparable. in my opinion the strut/shock would be more likely to be a factor with a proper install.

I enjoyed my H-Techs for a couple of years until the sagging got on my nerves. Then I bought the S-techs and just replaced the front springs and now the car is level (the front might be a little lower). But I haven’t had any problems... it might be something to look in to.

s-techs sag in the rear on sedans : /
i just started to notice a little sag now after having them on for about a year and a half

the rear is exactly where i want it right now...any lower and it'll be too low...

My photo album with some pics. This is after a year of use with a heavy sub box. NO sag at all. Pics taken without sub box.

hmmm..h-techs work well w/ your car..my rear is about the same height as yours but my front is higher...maybe it's because i dont have a k-series to weigh down the front end..hehbtw, your drop is lower than the rated 0,88inch drop specified on their website...looks nice but tein specs are off...oh one more question..does your car scrape at all? it looks low enough to...my front end is still so high that i can plow through speedbumps even w/ an oem lip on the car

Re: Tein H-Tech tons of rear sag..WTF?
man...i'm still waiting on mine! fudgicles! anyhow, some people said the prokit sagged, but when i installed mine on stock shocks they were fine. i guess i'll know some time this week if the h-techs sag or not...
Re: Tein H-Tech tons of rear sag..WTF?
so you already have the prokit? why switch to h-techs? aren't h-techs supposed to be similar spring rate and drop?
let me know which you think is better...
