Going back to stock sway bar
So, I def made the idiot mistake of getting the 01-02 front sway that is 25.4mm. The reason being is because now I have sooo much more understeer, even though I have a RSX-S 19mm Rear Sway...I got a pretty good deal on a new one from hondaautomotiveparts.com. I ordered the bar (15.9mm), the bushings and the brackets for 57 shipped....I dont know what I was thinking when I bought the gargantuan front sway and not expect severe understeer......

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
You mean stiffer isnt allways better?!!????!?!?!??
Jk. There are some instances where a stiffer front bar can be advantagious, however that ushually is reserved for street cars running soft springs. Otherwise if you have any plans on using the car for compitition or are trying to scratch out that last bit of handling.... run the softest front bar you can get away with.

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
yeah..I want to do Autocross really really bad. I bought the front sway not knowing that it have a grave effect on my handling (silly noob I was) lol. But, I really cant wait to get the stock bar back on and see what it can do.

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
Rennen, if you still want to, I will sell my bar to when I get it off. It will come with brackets and bushings....
PS...you still interested in my ES 19mm Poly Bushings....lol......I'll sell em to you for $9 shipped....thats the best I can do......

another big reason you dont want to heavily modify is that it is going to bump you up in class, meaning you can be a novice driver racing guys that have been in the sport for years. by driving in a stock class, you will be up against guys with similar cars, and have a better chance of being with guys of the same skill level. i assume you want to autox simply for fun, and I can tell you youre not gonna have fun getting your *** handed to you. believe me, we've all been there

to be honest....yeah...I felt a slight difference. since they are stiffer and are polyurathane. They are the black ones. They also will last longer than the stock ones.....but, its up to you......let me know if you want them

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
so as a general consensus.. a stock front sway bar w/ a fatter rear sway bar (such as a 19-22mm) provides the best results for this car?

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
If the car is being used for the street, the 19mm bar will be fine. if the car is being used for compitition run the 22mm (and start thinking of replacing that big front bar with the 03's 15.9mm bar)
Re: Going back to stock sway bar
yeah ^ what he said haha. i just upgraded my 19mm rsx-s to progress 22mm and all i can say is WOW! totally noticeable difference. as far as daily driving between 19 and 22, they are very similar if not unnoticeable. during performance however, it is easily detectable. heres a pic for u guys

and yeah im on stock endlinks to see how they hold up.

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
^I just got that progress 22mm one.. but I have no front sway bar.. I hope I don't crash until I get an OEM front sway LOL.
I DO have a neuspeed strut bar though for the front.. maybe that will help

what is the stock size sway bar in the 02 year(I know the sedan is 25.4mm what about the coupe)-is it worth buying the 15.9 mm one? What is the part number the 15.9 sway bar. Thx

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
i dont know the stock number for the OEM 15.9mm but if you go to hondaautomotiveparts.com.....and look up the 04-05 front stabilizer spring, that is the 15.9mm...I would recommend getting new bushings and brackets as well...all those cost me 57 shipped to my door.....

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
I personally like the big front sway with a big rear sway (24mm). I think the steering response gets loose when you lower the front sway, but zzyzx seems to like it.

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
I pretty much decided that its better to give some up coming in to a turn and make up for it coming out of that turn then it is to enter the turn better and come out of that turn slower.
Basically, corner exit speed is much more important then corner entry speed.

Re: Going back to stock sway bar
I think I just need some better tires really. I have the progress front, but I also have the stock wheels and tires from the RSX-S, and when I'm in a turn, I can turn the wheel a good ways and still pretty much head straight.
Re: Going back to stock sway bar
the 15.9 front and 19 back is great for street. Beware during snowy winter months. I've had my *** kick out unexpectedly at times. Good thing I thought it was fun and didn't panic. Especially with soft winter tires.
Re: Going back to stock sway bar
i'm going to make sure the civic doesn't leave the garage this winter.
