Tie Rod End. HELP!

The one thing I feared most has happened. The tie rod tread was warped from me banged it to get it off the strut, im putting on new struts. Since the bottom end of the tread is warped, I had to use force to screw it on, when I did this I noticed the whole tread was moving along with the screw! So I guess I broke it off or something inside. What the hell do I do? I got it as tight as I could by holding on to the tread with pliers, but the screw only went up a little, I haven’t got it passed the hole that the cotter pin goes in. How am I going to fix this? I have to move the car, can I at least drive it a little or is that to risky?

What do I do?
Am i just going to have to buy a new tie rod end? If so do i just get Part # 8?

Update:
Well, it worked for the left side, when i got to right, i did the same thing, and i kept on turning, turns out i cross-treaded it, and i really messed up the beginning part of the tread trying to get the screw off with a hammer. I bought a die at size 10X.150, and I tried doing it, it didn’t work.
So, my first question is, does anyone know the exact size? Its 10mm for sure. I though maybe 10X1.50 or 10X1.25

If I buy a dremel, do I just cut the warped portion off? Or should I try sanding it down? Also, if I cut I won’t be able to use the cotter pin, is that really bad?

Actually thats normal. The whole bolt can turn inside the tie rod.

The reason why u probably can't get the nut up all the way is because you banged some threads on the bolt and now there is enough resistance to the point that the bolt actually turns. If you are already trying to hold the thread with pliers you probably already screwed the threads up.

There are a few solutions. If you didn't screw up the threading above the little hole for the pin. You can use a dremel and cut of the thread, or sand down the bad thread to the nut just starts threading on good thread.
The other solution would be to buy new tie rod ends. You can get them at the dealership for roughly 65 bucks each, or online for about 35 bucks each.

Good Luck!

what you can do is use your oem jack and put pressure on the top of the tie rod then it shall screw in fine ... it happens all the time

dremel, file, thread die, among other things, have been known to fix damaged threads.

the whole tread turns, the actual part you screw it on, so in side the boot, somthing broke, i think. And i just tried it again, banged the screw and i made it worse. So with dremel, i just file down the warped part and make it smooth?

i suggest taking it to someone who knows what they are doing to have it fixed properly. If the connection between the tie-rod and the strut fails its your life and the others around you that are at risk. IF you are able to get the nut back on , but in the process you were unable to get a cotter pin back in, DONT drive it or atleast call the police first to tell them your driving an unsafe vehicle on the road. I have seen the aftermath of what some people considered an OK repair to later find out the repair was done improperly and failed causing SERIOUS damage to thier car, and luckily no injuries or deaths
