coming to a sudden stop..

ive been noticing when i have to break somewhat quickly i slide and i dont stop right away, i dont skid but it feels like my breaks skip or something i dont know its hard to explain. anyway i was wondering if i should get all new breaks on my 01 civic with 76xxx miles on it. i think the brakes are still the originals that were on the car. i was wondering what would be a good brake kit for under 400-500$?

thanks

If it feels like they are pulsating, its just your antilock break system. It keeps your wheels from locking up. If it's not that, than you might need to bleed your brakes, or your brake fluid is getting old and nasty..... If your brakes are the orig's at that mileage, have you changed the pads atleast?

first off you need to check your brakes. remove all the wheels and examine everything. check the pad life remaining. if there low, replace them. with the rotors I would even bother resurfacing them. rotors are too cheap these days to be doing that, just replace them. besides, resurfacing them just take more material off and lessens the life left of the rotor. as far as bleeding, if it hasnt been done before, get it done now. flush it is what you should do. same as bleeding except you are putting all new fluid in the system.

PowerSlot Rotors and Hawk pads is a GREAT OEM replacement. I have this setup and I get a much improved response on braking over the original blank rotors and pads. That link is a great deal too

i have 106,000+ miles on my car, bought it with 100,000, pads are still probably 30-40% and rotors are still smooth, i guess what i am trying to say, is check to make sure everything needs to be replaced before u spend the money, flush the system first, that could help alot if everything is still ok, drums usually last about twice as long as discs, so keep that in mind also.
