question? on tokico

Ok,

Im on a mission to buy a good fair suspension set up and have narrowed it down to tokico. But Im trying to decide if i should go with the d-specs or save 150 bucks and buy some blues?

I have a 02 civic coupe stock suspension now, and use it for a daily drive.
I want to go for that low profile look and gain a good performance on my handle.
I dont want a bumpy stiff ride, and yet want to go with maybe a 1.5''frnt 1.7" bk.

What will being able to adjust with dpecs do for me. lower and raise height?

Spring wise, Im also in a bind. I now if I get sportlines it wont drop but about 1". Ive heard good things about tien and neuspeeds.

What ya think?

hey....Do I need anything else with the purchase of shocks/struts and springs? Or will they come with all i need, other than camber?

Looks good..

Right now it looks like I will be doing that exact set up.

Question is do I need anything else? Or does the kits have everything I need for install

PB blaster, breaker bar and your car is an 02 so you dont have to modify the tokicos like i had to for my 04

your gonna need the top part of the stock struts, thats about it

the black sleeve part and up is what your gonna need, you will see when you take out the stock struts the stuff you need. Make sure the neuspeed letters are upside down on all four when you install them, here is a pic of my rears

pb blaster is the best stuff you can get to help remove rusted and corroded bolts. It works wonders and i definatley suggest it, they sell it at pep boys in a spray can. A breaker bar is just a longer pipe or whatever to put over the handle of the ratchet so you have more leverage and you will need it. I bought my tokicos from dezod.com and there on sale for like $360 there, arrived at my door 3 days later, highly suggest them

Did you need a chamber kit?

And how long did you wait till you aligned it?

I see you have a green application of the nuespeeds sports!

On ebay I see some but the pic shows green. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEUSP...spagenameZWDVW

are these any good?

i dont really need a camber kit but i might get one later on. I still havent gotten it aligned but i might be getting it done this week or next, im actually starting to get used to it but i still want it done. My neuspeed springs are red not green. I dont know about those, ive heard of people getting race springs instead of sport springs which lower the car to like 2.5 inches which tokico's cant handleso i wouldnt get them from ebay. I got my neuspeed sport springs from www.namotorsports.com for $153.00 on sale, the sale ends the end of May and it originally cost $240 so if you want them you better hurry up. Its only a little bit less than the one's on ebay and this is also a legit site so you cant go wrong. The picture of them on namotorsports is green but i would still trust this site over some seller on ebay

hows the ride compared to stock so far?

Ive been hearing good stuff on this set up! Seems like a great way to go without dishing out so much green.

So your springs are red? OK! 153 sounds like a good price. ill check it out.

yeah this is a good setup i helped install his springs and that are mint, i have an 02 also and its gunna be a bitch, everything is gunna be hard to get off. so yeah, get PB Blaster, its like 4 bucks. and will save some time. the DIY is easy, its the rusted bolts that arent.

oh ok, yea 03 and up, your gonna need a hammer drill because the bit wont fit inside a normal drill. I couldnt find a 16mm bit but i found a 15.88mm one and just drilled it bigger. I bought a new drill for $60 and the bit cost like $17

sponjey is an unknown quantity at this point
so this is my first official post and i think i can be helpful since i've been reading this site for 10hrs straight on how to lower and what the best setup is,
and where to get a good price.

as most people are doing, the tokico blues (hp series) / neuspeed sport (1.75" front 1.5" rear) setup seems to be the best for our 01 civics
if you want a decent looking slam and ride comfort.

i found a great deal for the tokico blues at autocarparts (google it since my newbieness can't post websites until my 15th post)
$133 for the 2 rear struts (part number HU3741)
$247.80 for the front struts (part numbers HB3204 & HB3205)
shipping to the east coast was $25.16

i went ahead and bought my neuspeed sports on ebay for $139 plus $29.95 for shipping. the guy had enough sales to be reputable in my eyes.
all the pics of the neuspeed sport i've seen online are green so it just may be a general pic for all their springs.

i just bought my parts this week. the struts came in just one day since i live super close to the distributor. i can't wait to get time to install everything!

jay78 - here's my educated take on the d-specs. the tokico d-specs are good if you intend on doing different types of races (street, track, cross...)
which is why it is 16-way adjustable and more expensive. if you just want that nice lowered look, and street performance,
go with the tokico blues aka tokico hp series.

depotcivic - if you haven't already, check out the DIY on installing the springs subject: "Do It Yourself Spring Install - Detailed Info & Pics" posted by Mex.
i think i can install the springs in my sleep after reading that. haven't found anything specifically on installing the struts yet...

cheers!

be careful taking apart the strut to get the springs off, even though the DIY says put your foot on it so they dont go flying they will anyway. My 04's flew like 30 feet after i loosened the nut and all the bearings came loose and rolled down my driveway. Now when i helped cenz lower his car his springs didnt go flying at all so i guess its just the amount of miles you have on your car or whatever. His car was an 02 with 60k miles and mine was an 04 with 20k miles so yea.....be very careful and do NOT do it on the grass because you will lose all of the bearings and than you will have to get new top mounts or will knock like crazy
