Painting springs
Painting springs
Have any of you guys painted your springs? What kind of paint do you use?
I'd like to paint the Teins I bought red to match the car. I know they won't be seen much anyway, but having green springs and a red car... I don't want to be the christmas-mobile...

This is a good question, I'd like to know myself.
The springs on the B&G Coilovers I purchased have some chips on the original Spring Coating from the factory and you can see bare metal. I was thinking that this would rust and weaken in that section of the Spring over time.
What can we use to re-coat the Spring with a similar Anti-Corrosion Coating that is durable, and flexible since the Springs need to compress and rebound.
I'm thinking that paint that has some level of elastomer in it would be good enough, since there will be no exposure of the Spring to make contact with anything when it's installed that will risk the paint/coating to chip off.
Any input on this would be great!

I don't know what kind of paint it is, but my father in law got some red paint that he used to paint the calipers on his mini and I'm going to check with him if that paint will work for the springs too.
I live in the south, so don't have to worry about salt and stuff.

Its utterly pointless to paint them. It'll chip, crack from bouncing, etc... and you can't see them anyways.
They need to be flexible epoxy coated, which is expensive and just flat out not worth it. Leave them alone, or roll them with electric tape.
****, if I cared about all the colors under my car..... damn, it looks like a box of crayons exploded.

I'll probably just hang some mistletoe under there someplace instead. LOL

Its not big deal, only part of the springs you'll see is in the rear and you have to look pretty hard, hell i have green Struts and Springs from my Tein SS. I don't really like the green color but shows off the Tein Green and you really can't see it that much.
