Question for Pro Kit installation

Should the plastic around the spring be pushed all the way to the bottom of the spring before installing? Does it help it seat and not squeak or does it matter? Look at this pic, you can see the white/opaque plastic wraps about two rungs above the bottom of the spring.

Pro-kit springs

I don't think so becasue those help reduce noice when the springs compress. I have the Pro-kit springs installed and mine were not pushed all the way down and they make no noise when i go over bumps or turn my wheel. I doesn't say anything about the rubber in the booklet that came with the springs.

You have to understand the concept of dead coils. Progressive springs have dead coils, meaning that they touch each other. The coil wrap goes between the top of the dead coils and the rest of the spring because that is where the coils will rub up against each other the most from compression and rebound. They are fine where they are.
