Stabilizer bars: Front vs. Rear

I was talking with my friend and I mentioned I wanted to get a stabilizer bar for the rear. He said I should get one for the front first. I thought front wheel drive cars had problems with understeer and that a good stabilizer bar in back would fix that, which is what I'm tryin to do. Niether of us was a 100% sure so here I am.
Also, I don't want to repost, but I searched for info on strut bars and haven't found anything about what I'm asking.

Strut bars aren't stablizer bars. Sway bars aka anti-roll bars aka stabilizer bars. If you don't know the difference, then i suggest you don't buy either of them until you do.

Please read the suspension FAQ and the autox FAQ (found in my signature). There is a link to Mike Kojima's page that will guide you. They both have good information. You need to figure out what you want and understand some vehicle dynamics. Also check out www.howstuffworks.com

A rear anti-roll bar would help, but it will not completely fix the problems. Front drivers will just about always understeer in certain situations.... cant defy physics.....
