if all bumps are cut does that affect anything?

Boilermaker1 is a splendid one to behold

More travel trades off for less protection against bottoming out. The ideal solution is to get a composite bumpstop with a very soft part and a very hard part molded together. That way it has some give before the shocks completely slam out.
