Coil Over Suggestions
Coil Over Suggestions
Living in Jersey, coil overs are a must for the season changes. I want that lowered stance but I'm hardly a novice when it comes to this stuff. I am by no means a rich man so I need some assistance in selecting good quality, in expensive coil overs. I saw some Drop Zone's on Ebay for like $100. Any feedback on those or something better for not alot of money?

personally, i love my tein ss-p's.. they ran me 1250 tho.. they're full strut replacement coilovers..
ground control coilovers are ones you slip over some struts, but i've heard they're pretty good quality.. they usually run 300 or so..
i'ma let the suspension guru's put in their 2 cents..

I saw something on TV about Tein, they looked expensive. for the most part you get what you pay for right? I know there alot of hardcore enthusiasts on here. I'm just trying to get a nice stance, some body mods, sound & a lil engine enhancement, so I'm trying to compile a list of everything iI want to get before I even start so I have goals to work towards. All help is greatly appreciated.

1) You don't want drop your car on stock shocks. You will most likely hate the ride and it could be dangerous. Please read the FAQ and all the stickied threads. They have a lot of good information. Also use the search feature.
2) Changing the height for seasons, although nice, is generally not a good idea unless you want to pay for an alignment every 6 months. You can't change the height without affecting the alignment. If you have one of those lifetime ones, well then go for it. However, getting the height to match after adjusting isn't easy. Counting threads doesn't work and it could take weeks to get an even stance.
3) Please research before you buy anything.

Depending on how low you want to go.....i have GCs, and my car is slammed. The ride quality is HORRENDOUS!!! I dropped it on stock shocks, and then i replaced em with Tokicko blues, but still, the ride sucks. Im going to save money, and get the true coilover system. Its going to cost me alot, but im so sick of this bouncy ride!
But, on the other hand, thats the price i pay for looks.
I like the tuckin look.

that's why I'm here....to learn from the pros. I don't just want a good look, I want a nice ride to match so I'll definitelt take the advice. I'm not planning on doing anything until I fully understand all aspects of what it is I want to do.

If you don't have a MINIMUM of $800 to throw at your suspension, don't bother.
Thats probably the best advice you'll hear all night.

of course, there are going to be small exceptions to that? say, for instance, badass eBay deals, or like mentioned above in the 7thgen marketplace...
i had tein s-techs (150-ish, eBay) on tokico blues (350-ish, eBay) with an spc camber kit (137, TrueHonda) for not that expensive.. not a horrible setup, decent ride, a nice drop to it, too..

So like I said, if you don't have $800 to throw at it, don't bother.

800 and ur just at the bottom of the barrel. Look to spend 1000+ for suspension, camber kit, and alignment. and dont go cheap, suspension is, "u get what you pay for" so that 100 coils are probably 100 quality and a 100 dollar ride quality.
like all of the members say save your money and buy the real deal but hey it your choice also hows your driving conditions befor you buy cause for me I needed more dampering so I got me D2's 36 way ajustables and slammed it 3 inch all around it has a upper camber plate an all and it saved me money on the cambers also but it your choice jus get something that will last you a long time ..........

My biggest concern with Pre-built coilovers is the dampers they use.... particuarly the cheeper ones. and considering the damper is probably the most important part your buying... I'm more inclined to buy a known good damper like Koni, or go straight for the Ultra High end prebuilt, and I'm not talkin Tein and the like... :Cough: Moton :Cough: not that I could afford them

true... but then for street use, just about any thing not OEM will work fine.
