Exclamation To those with B&G S3 Coilovers, please read! Help!

Hey everyone,

After doing much research and finally finding a set, I've decided to purchase the B&G S3 Coilovers since I've read great reviews on them. It's currently in the process of being delivered. Might be another week or so. However, after researching the forums, I have not been able to find exactly what is required from the stock suspension to install these. Since I have a 2002 Coupe, I have read that the Upper Mounts and Bearings for the fronts do not sit as flush as the 2001's. I plan on purchasing the 2001 Upper Mounts and Bearing for the fronts, but what else is needed? The reason I'm asking these questions is because, I don't want to disassemble the set up I have on the car now, so I can swap suspension set ups in the winter.

I have attached the following two (2) diagrams. These are the complete Front and Rear components found in the stock set up.

FRONT

REAR

For those of you who installed the B&G S3 Coilovers, could you please list the numbers of the components required to use with the B&G Coilovers to complete the installation? Since they're on the way, I figured I should order the parts from Honda so I'll have everything ready to install once they arrive.

Better yet, does anyone have the B&G Installation Instructions for the GF28012 Coilover Kit for our cars? If you have it in a .pdf could you please let me know or email it to me at L23Tan@hotmail.com

Thanks for the assistance!

Slicksivik... are you sure you don't use any rear parts?

I would think you need atleast # 10 and 9 in the rear as well.

Can anyone confirm?

I have the instructions in my hand that come with the kit, however its for a 2001 civic and 02 RSX.

For the rear, you need honda numbers: 9, 19 (bolts), 8, 1
Fronts: 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15

once you remove the factory suspension, its simple - pull the parts off and pop them on the b&gs - you wont need a spring compressor to remove the stock parts.

I think for an 02, you will only need 2001 upper pillow mounts for the front and rear. all other 2002 parts will work. that means that front # 7 and 9 and rear # 9 will be needed from a 2001 civic.

Another word of advice, taking the suspension on and off will be a bitch- youll need an alignment after each install and the wear and tear on the parts will be pretty brutal. Just leave the b&gs at a decent drop for the winter. Also set the height before putting them in and also lube the threads with lithium grease to aid in moving the locking spindles. I think thats about all i can offer. Best of luck Leo

Slicksivik and ironcow,

So you're saying that when you got your B&G Coilovers, the rears came all assembled and all you did was bolt it in? To my understanding, the B&G's come completely unassembled and you need stock parts from both the front and the rears. Especially the mounts.

Blouisgod, once again you've come through with great information! Thanks!

mine came all preassembled new. all i did was take out the rears, and bolt them straight in. the fronts u use the upper mounts from ur 01 and of course the bolts that hold them in place from the stock ones. thats about it.
