Blown Shock??

Blown Shock??

I installed my KYB AGX about two weeks ago, and reacently hace been hearing oises coming for the front drivers side, its kinda like the sound oil or air makes when its leaking, is there any way i can check that the shock is not blown???

Look under car, check for leaking fluid on strut in question.........

^^ Yes, you should be able to see if fluid is escaping. It's hard to believe that you could blow a shock in two weeks unless the shock is defective.

yeah im gonna do that, and i was checking just in case it was defective, so if its leaking, there should be visible oil anywhere on the strut right??

Yeah, it may be hard to see but it should be visible if it is leaking. Check your drive way as well.

a blown shock doesnt have to leak to be blown. I know that from blowing 7 shocks in 2 years. Check for bouncing. push the car down from the strut tower and watch it. If it comes back up quickly and stops it's fine. If it goes up then back down a tiny bit, you could have bad news. Remember, shocks don't hold up the vehicle, they absorb jounce.

Best way is to drive the car for 10-20 min. Then check the temp of each shock. if the shock is cold it isnt working,if it is hot, then the shock has seized up or is binding, if it is warm, then it is working properly.
