Next up???
Hi guys,
So I've got my sway bar on, coilovers are soon to be on their way. The last few suspension components I can upgrade are adding tie bars rear and front, strut bar for the front, and a front a rear x brace.
Which part should I go with first? The X brace? or the tie bars, or the strut bar? Are the megan products any good? Lastly do the xbraces require you to lose your trunk? it bolts on over the rear tire right? and you can't place the trunk matt on the brace? Someone please clear this up for me.
Thanks

megan products are good
xbrace goes under the front of the car (at least the Si one does cause i have it)...it bolts to the two bolts for the front lower control arms and two bolts on the subframe. i could be wrong....this is the one for the Si, but ibet they're the same.

Hey scatman...sry about the other thread man. Just thought it be funny to ask.
Anywayz thanks for the reply guys.
I'm just going to handle the car...not like huge speed racing just some nice mountain and autocross racing.
Already have the 22mm sway bar figured the tie bar would be a good idea since it helps the subframe from tearing.
I thought there was a xbrace that went into the back of your trunk but I might be wrong too.
I asked about megan products cuz I'm not sure if they are any good...seem to be soo cheap on ebay and the pictures of the products seem to vary. Theres a billet one that doesn't have holes that says megan on it, another that has 2 holes and says megan, and another by megan that doesn't say megan but its like a rod. Seems shady to me...

front upper strut bar (neuspeed) prob the best bang for buck and most likely performs better than DC/megans.
tires are probably the most important suspension upgrade as of handles.
keep in mind stock springs with performance shocks perform better than aftermarket springs with stock shocks. so i hope your going for full coilovers when u said "coilovers".

Sticky tires will make a bigger difference then almost any other suspension mod. If you want to get into autocross I suggest one thing "seat time". I believe this quote was from zzyzx "autocross isnt a sport where you can throw something on your car and automatically be faster."
Megan is pretty ok. i have their rear strut bar. it has two holes, and it says Megan, but its the same color as the strut bar. i think the rod one that youre talking about is the tie bar (?) as for the one with the 2 holes, its probably the rear strut bar. and the one without the holes...im not sure.lol.
oh btw, maybe you might wanna get an RS Akimoto monkey bar? i bought mine a few weeks ago, but i still havent installed it, so i cant give a review or anything. but ya, i can give ya the item # for summitracing if you want it (im talking to everyone.
lol. because if you just type up RS Akimoto monkey/floor bar, it wont show up. i guess thats why some people said they dont have it anymore? you gotta type in the item #).

i tried, but i couldnt find any pix.
oh, btw...i dont think you can use a floor bar if youre gonna autocross. just letting ya know in case youre ready to throw down $249.80 for the RS Akimoto floor bar.

if your autocrossing or tracking the car, i would first suggest knowing how to drive the car before modding. that way you build much greater expierence and learn step by step speicifically.
I'm learning to drive slowly...there aren't a lot of places to really push your car and learn from your mistakes. Plus is not safe to try to learn your cars limits on the streets. A few buddies of mine we go up and handle in the mountains and push it one step at a time. I haven't had a chance to really push the car because the road we normally drive on is GMR aka glendora mountain road. Its closed most of the year because of bad road conditions. It opens up in summer. I use to drive my old 525i bmw up there soo I kinda know what i'm doning. I'm not going to say i'm pro though. I'm planning on taking a drivers course this summer. One of those courses were they teach you how to drive, do dangerous manuvers and all that stuff soo you become more familiar with your car and how to handle it in certain situations.
Btw anyone know of these courses? Any in california? I'm looking for something in so cal. The irwindale speedway is like 15 mins away from me. I'm gunna start looking.
Thanks for the advice D17thgen...

Gotta save up money...no point in driving a modded car u spend soo much money on when ur either gunna crash it or can't use it to its potential. I think a school like this is one of the greatest investments you can do.
