I need your opinions

all,

I've got the tokico adjustable coilovers in my 94 civic and tein basics in my girl's 00 Si. My girl's sister has an 01 civic coupe that she wants to drop. Any ideas? I've been in a 02 rsx-s with tanabe Sustec Pro S-0C Coilovers and the RQ was nice. I do not know much 'bout the 7th gen suspension setup, that's where I need your help. Would the tanabes be something worth buying? or should she take the tein route? She is not looking for maximum performance, but rather RQ and a good suspension. She likes the feel of the basics, but that's riding in a 00 Si? is that comparable? Lemme know all...Thanks!

edit: I hear good things about b&g coilovers, doesn't anyone have these and are they worth considering? the prices between the basics, tanabes and b&g's are about the same...

Lots of people around here recommend the basics. If she's looking for more of a street car you also might want to consider the spring + shock route

Anything that fits the 03+ Si, and 02+ RSX will fit the civic with some modifications. The illuminas aren't out for our car yet. If you are just looking for a drop too look nice then get a set of Neuspeed/Eibach/HR springs with Tokico blues and a SPC camber kit (front and rear). Basics are fine too. I don't know of anyone with the tanabe coils here. B&Gs are self-dampening but they can be lowered more than the basics.

i thought about the shock/spring setup but i did that with my 94 civic and wasn't satisfied, only because it wasn't height adjustable. everywhere i got a lot of people recommend tein...i just don't like the recommended specs tein sets, you know? so no one has b&g or tanabe? thanks for the replies guys!

Lots of people have B&Gs but they are self dampening. What don't you like about the specs of Tein? I don't know anyone with Tanabe. If you get tanabe you have to get the ones for the EP3.

when there are recommended specs from the manufacturer, it makes me feel like i'mma ruin the product if i go beyond them...like my tokico setup doesn't have any recommended specs, i can go as low as I want or as high as i want, you know?

oh, I see. Well full coilovers usually don't have recommended specs. aftermarket shocks usually do. You can't lower too low on tokicos. Full coils are designed to work together. I mean you can preload some of them too much and have the height too high or too low, but that usually affects ride quality and possibly hitting the bumpstops (which is not a good thing.

yes. i have the full coilover tokicos in my 94 civic and absolutely love them....its too bad that they don't make them for the 7th gens. the was the mistake i made the first time around when i got tokico illuminas and OBX adjustable coilovers. BIG mistake...
