Another Tein SS review ...
Yes. Another Tein SS review ...
I bought this setup from dezod during his holiday blowout sale right before Christmas. Mine is the set without the upper mounts. Tein is now selling sets with pillowball upper mounts, but it's like an extra $200 bucks. Not worth it to me.
Finally got around to installing them this past weeked (02/13/2005). My little brother and I ended up doing the install right in my driveway. Took us just about 3 hours to do the full install. Glad he's a Honda mechanic! We had some trouble getting out the front camber bolts for some reason. They just didn't want to come out. We eventually had to get a small rod and hammer them out. Once those were out though, the coilovers went in very easily. Noticed that the tie rod boot is torn on the drivers side, but I was told it was fine and it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Had to reuse some of the OEM parts, per the instructions. Just the upper mounts and bearings for the front was reused. No big deal there. Went in without an issue and everything bolted up perfectly. Tightened the bottom collar locknut just so the spring was snug against the upper mount before lowering the car. Rear was just as simple to do. Had to reuse more of the rear parts. A few different washers, dust cover and upper mounts. They went in even easier. Took about 30 minutes to do the rear.
I went around and adjusted the dampners to full hard (clockwise). Trust me, they ride *hard*. I'm feeling every little bounce and bump in the road. But it's actually not bad. I more or less "float" over the bump, instead of going over it and bouncing up and down for a few seconds. It's not as harsh of a ride as I'm making it sound like. I actually enjoy it. I'm gonna drive around like this for a few more days before going full soft to see how that is. Then I'll go ahead and play with the settings and adjust the bias to see where I want it. Maybe a little softer in the front, harder in the rear.
I'm glad I finally got around to getting these things on. So much of a more comfortable ride. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Goldline springs I originally had. Maybe might not have been too bad if I had blown my OEM shocks.
Definately giving the Tein SS a
and will recommend them to anybody that asks.
