I just received my RSX sway bar to install on my 01 Civic. It came with the bushings. My question is do I need a new bracket for the bushings or do the stock brackets fit over the new bushings?

teh RSX bushings hav a little more reinforcing to them but I've run the stockies for like 2 years with no problems

Bushings are different (you already know that) but brackets are the same.

So I installed the RSX Sway bar this weekend and love it around the curves. I knew the sway bar would stiffen the horizontal motion, but never really thought about it also stiffening the vertical motion. Speed bumps are a bit more interesting now!

So when I installed the bar, I put some silicone grease inside the bushings then I tightened everything up as well as I could lying under the car with an allen wrence and a box wrench. I looked at the bar this morning and it has shifted to the left about 3/4". The left bushing is being spread open from the curvature of the bar. This explains the clunking noises I've heard when going over some bumps. So what caused the shift? Did I overgrease the bushings? Did I not tighten the endlinks enough? Did I not position the endlinks correctly?

Well, it appears that after the professional installation of the sway bar was complete, those nasty Honda Gremlins came along and turned my sway bar upside down. The bend of the bar was resting on and scraping against the lower control arm causing the clunking and wicked speed bump action. Now that the bar is installed correctly the ride is very smooth with no noise coming from the rear. I think my car finally understands how to hug the interior line of every curve.

larger anti-roll bars will make some types of bumps more apparent (you'll feel them more) Typically only when one tire contacts a bump and causes the bar to load.


Regarding your Line.... Start wide, clip the apex and then go back wide. (The idea is that you should be trying to make the corner as straight as possible.) If you are interested, the book "Secrets of Solo Racing" is a great read.
