rear camber kit

ok i got my 01 sedan lowered on s techs
however the rear has a lot of negative camber.
i got the spc camber kit
my friend said i could just install it myself but get an alignment later.
can i just adjust camber by sight? also do i have to adjust it then lock it in place then lower the car down and see if it is aligned? or can is there a way to adjust it while its jacked up still.
i bought these used so i dont have the manual.
thanks for the info.

you can do it by sight. It might not be 100% but it would probably be better than before
you can also use a level if you want to get a little closer
best thing to do is just jack it up and let it back down when you get down

You can set it yourself, but it is better to get it done by a shop. Yes you can install it yourself. Should take no more than an hour.

Don't eyeball camber. You can do that to try and get it even, but it really gives you no sense of the angle. 2 degrees doesnt sound like a lot, but it looks like an aweful lot if you're eyeballing it. You can diy it with a camber gauge, but if you just lowered it, it needs a toe adjustment anyways, so take it to the shop and get it done.

I was in the same situation. All I did was make my rear SPC kit about a 1/4" or was 3/8"? longer them my stock control arms then installed them. So far so good.. in fact I havent even took it in for an alignment.

i c cool i think i can do it. i did the springs with my friend so im familiar with how to take it apart and what not i guess im just concerned with how acurate i can get it without the measuring tools.

im gonna get new rims and tires soon. will it make a difference if i get an alignment now and get the new rims and tires? i mean will i need to get them aligned again. i have the stock 14s right now 185/70 tires. im planning on getting 17s with 205/45,50 or 55 tires something around there.
should i get an alignment now with the kit installed or install the kit now and get alignment when i get the new rims and tires? im guessing i should get the alignment doen with the new rims.

The tires and wheels wont affect your alignment... so get your alignment done after you install your camber kits. Maybe give it a couple of days for the springs to settle in first though.

Also, SPC has some install instructions I think.. last time I checked they did.

i installed my springs a few weeks ago and plus they were used for about 400 miles before i got them on my ride so i think they are pretty much settled.
i checked the spc site and it had a pictorial of somone who installed the camber kit on a 01 civic. i guess its enough, the install is pretty self explanatory i was just wondering if there was any special stuff to do when adjusting the camber.

i know they said not to preload the bushings, but i never understood what they meant by that?...

(also, which way to turn the bolt closest to the body of the car to loosen it? right tight?)

50 or 55 series tires will be too big for 17 inch rims, most go 40 or 45

there is no way you could use 50 or 55 on 17's you will rub like a bitch! especially with lowering springs.

Im riding on 45's right now and only dropped with goldlines (1.75 f 1.5 r) and they are close.

Yes, you should have received a new nut. Check out this link for install instructions. click here

Also, you DEFINITELY need to have your vehicle professionally aligned after the install. Otherwise, don't even bother installing the kit.

Yo yo, I just want to stress the fact of getting it aligned right after. I am lowered 2" all around on Sprint Springs, everything was fine, I ordered and installed my SPC camber kit myself, eyeballing and measuring with straight edge on flat surface worked well enough, you can actualy twist it w/ your hand to get it just right, but not too much or you'lll rub the fender, I made the mistake of not getting the alignment right after, and my brand new rear tires were done in 4 months I had some serious negative toe, installing the camber kit was cake, just get the alignment, I also bought the front camber kit but I don't think I really need it, plus I couldn't figure out how to install it either....
