RIDE of the TEIN FLEX
hey guys, just wondering if i can get some feedback on people who've sat in cars that use the TEIN FLEX full coilovers.
the spring is pretty damn stiff based on the numbers, so if anyone can tell me how the ride comfort goes, i'd really appreciate it.
also, how's the ride of the TEIN SS?

There is only one person with Tein flex and it is for an EP3. Ask him. They will be stiff but nothing you can't live with. Tein ss is comfortable.
HEY THATS MEEE heh but uhh yeh i had em in my coupe up until 2 weeks ago when i took em out and bought a 04 ep3...now theyre in it....ride is like he said nothing u cant live with actually it rides quite nice...compared to say skunk2 on aftermarket shocks/struts and especially oem shocks/struts....in the coupe u have to cut holes in the hood webbing to make them fit though so be warned of that if u do get em reason for this is the adjuster sticks up pretty high i dont have pics of how high but it went about 1/2 inch into the hood nothing major just need a dremel to cut the holes...any more questions about em im around
Yeah where can you buy them for a 2001 2dr ex. I have been looking everywhere and no one has them yet well not for our cars only the SS. I have talked witht eh guys from tein and they said they arent even out yet in the states that they should be here in a month or two or longer. here is the email from them but if you know where they sell them for the 2001 civic please let me know and tell me a price.
Curt,
Hello and thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance
Suspension. For being able to lower your car and keep a full piston shaft
travel you would need to go with the Type Flex. Also, the Type Flex and
Type Super Street with pillowball uppermounts will be the only kits that are
EDFC compatible. We do not have an ETA on the release date yet but
hopefully in the next month or two they will arrive from Japan.

Well if the Tein type Flex that fit the EP3 will the EM2 then why not buy the Flex for the DC5 since it will have a stiff compression rate then the EP3 Flex kit?????? Since the DC5 is heavier then the EP3 and the EM2.
Stats for the DC5
Front 8/448 SW080-01175 Rear 10/559 SA100-01150 P/U
ride height front -40 -1.6 rear -33 -1.3
Stats for the EP3
Front 8/448 SW080-01175 Rear 10/559 SA100-01150 P/U
Ride Height Front -33 -1.3 -27 Rear -1.1
Stats for the EM2
Front 12/671 SA120-01150 Rear 14/783 P/U
Ride Height Front -48 -1.9 Rear -54 -2.1
All of this came front the Tein website. Now the DC5 and the EP3 are the same P/N and all but for the EM2 they dont have the same P/N and they dont even have a P/N for the Rear. So do you know for a fact and have seen it done that a DC5 and EP3 suspension can fit and work Properly on an EM2 suspension without major modification. besides using a dremel to make little holes?????????

DC5 is not that heavier than ep3.
If you get DC5 fullcoilovers, you need RSX tie rods.
Probably $100+ at dealer.

front max and min rear max and min
-38 -1.5 ~ -57 -2.2 -27 -1.1 ~ -67 -2.7
I hope this helps people out why the flex is better then the SS
But if I buy the EP3 kit and put it on my EM2 I will still need to take it to an allignment shop right?
YES U MUST DO THIS.....the steering arm is different on the ep3 making a major toe in problem....ima have to take some pics today of the flex if i get the time....of all the greatness of it with the adjsutability and all have to take wheels off but yeh i thnk ill do that bbl with pics
Now are these are on the EM2 or the EP3? but the pics help out alot. So you never had a problem with the main pillowmount bolt parttern going from the EM2 to the EP3? But thanx for all the info. the pics look good.
pics are on the ep3 i traded the em2 in so no pics on the car at least not online i have some somewhere but not around to scan....no problems on the em2 dirrect bolt on besides the hood needs a hole put in it

TEIN TYPE FLEX is comming out with the one that fits on EM2 models, so there will be no more fitment problems soon. The price is already released, but the product hasn't been officially released yet.
i was asking about the ride quality because i have the Hayame's right now, and the ride is friggin stiff and hell, and the shocks aren't adjustible, so i feel every bump on the road.
will the FLEX be like that? has anyone sat in a hayame suspensioned ride, and a TEIN FLEX suspensioned ride and can compare them?? ^_^
THanks for all the info guys

teins been saying that for a year dont get me wrong they probaby are just like skunk2 was releasing their 88-91 crx exhuast in 2000 but it didnt come out untill 2003 so dont hold ur breath
Hey are those camber plates aiming the right way? I just got the add-on upper bearing/camber plates for my KW V2s and they're both aimed in wierd directions... just wondering if aming perpendicular with the wheels is the correct way?
I'm pretty sure if you think the hayame's are too stiff, then tein flex is going to be a nightmare for you... that's the difference between a 700$ suspension and a 1700$ suspension... I shoulda gotten the tein flex, full damper travel at any height... can't be beat. After adding my pillowball upper bearing mounts, the car turns like 100% better, wish I had invested in them the first time.
