A cheap *** drop usually means they use your existing springs and cut them.

In a car which has springs front and back this is a cheap way to do a drop. on trucks or cars with leaf springs in back, they will use blocking to do the drop... and if they cut costs the blocking is typically scrap metal cut down to size.

The end result is a horrid ride that is worse than anything you can imagine.

IMHO, get some nice springs for under $200 and get a pal to help do the install. Your springs will be fitted for the drop and will ride properly. And you will have the satisfaction of doing a job yourself.

Considering springs cost $100-200 plus the cost of install and alignment, I don't see how your friend can lower your car properly for only $200. Plus, you will need shocks and a camber kit. Read the Suspension FAQ in my sig and educate yourself before you make a mistake.

dont cut the springs, my friend did that on his neon and than suddenly lost his steering ability on the interstate and rolled his car on the interstate going 85mph cuz he coudlnt turn his wheel due the the springs catching on something in his steering.

ive been researching for a while now...just questioning an option. but right now...thinking bout coilovers, but money is an issue. i guess ill just stick with the stock struts and a set of springs. not a great ride with that combo right?

Why isnt lowering the car with $200 possible??? If it dropped low enough, I would have stuck with my neuspeed sports and that costed me around $200..
$140 for the springs and $70 for the install...

But yeah before you get it done, i would find out what kind of springs they're going to use if any

Yea search MORE AND MORE AND MORE for more info on suspensions..
I'd personnally go with Full Coilcovers too, but yea i know ....$$$ is the issue for me too... I currently have Neuspeed Sport springs that i got last year(sitting in my garage still), I'mma sell those and save up some more money for Hayames($600+ or B&G's 950+)..

i say save . . . get neuspeed sport and tokico hp IMO. i just got them installed and the ride is sweet. i wish i went with race so it would be lower but due to the fact i go to nyc, i figured sport is the smarter way to go. waiting for it to settle in, hopefully it'll settle in nicely. like alienmeatsack said, save and get what you want.
