GC's custom spring rates anyone?
Ok, i've been searching around the fourm and i think i'm using the search function wrong becuase i cant find shit_on this... So i'ma ask anyone...
Heres my set-up currently have koni/neuspeed race, 19mm rsx bar, neuspeed bar, upper rear bar, 15"inch wheels, 205/50/15...i'm trying to set-up for auto-x or track days...i dont mind a stiff ride... so what can my konis handle as far as spring rate on gc's without getting em revalved. I've heard 300f/450r...is that even stiff enough up front? what is everyone running? i'm gonna order a set of GC's with custom rates so any help is appreciated...

300/450 would be a good start.... The konis should be able to handle up to 550 Just fine with out Revalving... A friend of mine ran 1,000 and 900s on a set of OTS Konis... he replaced them every year.
other then the springs, for autocross you may want to look at getting a smaller Front anti-roll bar (If you dont have an 03+) and Though the 19mm is great, Start looking around for a bigger rear bar 22mm+ (The Hothckis 27mm Hollow bar may be a good choice)

Its all about balance....
Seriously though, in racing applications a springs primary job is to keep the tire in contact with the ground.... (read: a tire in the air can make no traction) So, the rougher the roads/tracks you run the softer a spring you need, so that the tire wont bounce off the ground when you hit bumps or Apex curbs ect....
SO.... You'r probably going to have to try out a couple of spring rates to actually find the Best for your needs. Luckly a pair of springs from Ground control only costs around $50. You probably could use one of the "Coilover" companys as a basis... Just remember, Stiffer isnt nessisairly better.. its all about balance.

well if you havent done any thing yet, a good set of Dampers should be your #1 priority. Konis will do well here.
with the anti-roll bars.... well how do you want the car to handle? Have you any experiance with a car that will want to oversteer at its limits?
I have a 15.9 mm front bar and a 25.4mm rear bar and I havent had any problems sporting that on the street.... BUT. I've also spent the last 2 years pushing this car to its limits on track. One of my friends asked me if I was Fearless after I swung the car on to an on ramp, oversteer and all...... I had to think for a bit, but Responded, Its not fearlessness if you allready know what the car is going to do.
So.... If your average joe driver, go with the 19mm... If you want to or plan to ever learn to get the absolute maximum you can out of the car, Go with the 22. Just becarefull untill you do learn, and you may not want to let your friends/family to drive the car afterwards..... It may want to do things that they probably arnt use to or ready for.

I say you're going to have to play around. New GC springs aren't that expensive and you can always get on Honda Tech or something and sell the old ones to someone else... they don't really lose value. Either way... pick a starting point... 300/450 is probably a safe start. Honestly, I think you'll end up with it stiffer later, but the step up program is a good way to go about it. I'm gonna drop the front rates in my car, they're just too stiff, the car doesn't really dig in enough. So when all is said and done this winter, I'll have 400 front/ 560 rear, I'm debating the front sway bar change and I'm happy with the 22mm rear. It'll just walk around corners... rear follows front. But you gotta play with it. Everyone likes it a little different. Personally, I like to be able to throw it around, other people would rather have it completely planted.
