coil spring isolators
coil spring isolators
if you put spring isolators on a set of springs cuz you think you have bind.. and it turns out not to be the springs.. basically, is there anything bad about having isolators on springs that don't need them?
yea.. you'd think.. but I had the mechanic check that exact thing and they say the strut assembly is fine and the springs are indexed correctly...is coil bind a slight squeak? or is it something different? I hear mixed things and need a straight answer
Coil bind occurs when a spring endures a high amount of compression the spring can't withstand. This can happen within various instances - say you have a full coilover set-up and your springs are preloaded (compressed) too much, and you run into a curb at say 40+ MPH. The impact would be too much for the already compressed spring causing it to bind.
Keep in mind your coil spring does not already need to be preloaded for that to happen. It can occur on any spring given the impact is hard enough.

good to know... but I still need to know..
Does coil bind cause a 'squeaking' noise or a 'scraping/clanking' noise? I may not have coild bind...but I don't know what else it could be.. I'm lowered on eibach pro springs with koni yellows.. and some strut tie bars here and there... nothing major..so I don't know what could be causing it..
