Tein SS Or B&G for my ride...
Ok... Right now I have a neuspeed upper strut bar, and nothing else. So coilovers will basically be the first real suspension mod i will be doing to my car.
Ive read a lot of threads about tein but I haven been able to find a lot on B&G.
So... Basically what Iam going for is, a nice look but... Since I live in NY I dont want to go too low. So, Maybe 2"s max. Which Coilover will give me the best ride?
Tein SS or B&G ?

Parts you need
Front:
------
369032 Part 9 (BEARING, FR. SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNT) $13.98 X 2
369034 Part 10 (MOUNT, R. FR.) $23.45 X 1
369034 Part 11 (MOUNT, L. FR.) $23.45 X 1
Rear:
-----
36557 Part 1 (WASHER, SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING) $0.27 X 2
22692 Part 2 (COLLAR, SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNT (DUFFY STEEL PARTS) ) $0.45 X 2
369095 Part 8 (RUBBER, SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING) $4.74 X 2
369097 Part 9 (BASE, RR. SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING) $18.62 X 2
369099 Part 10 (AL, SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTING) $3.80 X 2
369101 Part 11 (PLATE, SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNT) $1.79 X 2
369103 Part 12 (RUBBER, RR. SPRING MOUNTING) $9.71 X 2
369105 Part 13 (COVER, RR. DUST) $7.22 X 2
369109 Part 15 (PLATE, BUMP STOP) $2.15 X 2
Or you can re use most of stock parts.
1) You will need the 01 mount bearings for the fronts.
2) You need to cut the dust boot or it might make noise.
Tein Basic/ss doesn' t drop that low really.
If you want 2" drop, Go with B&G.
Did you considering D2 fullcoilovers?

Ive actually been throwing around the idea of selling my Tein SS to buy the B&G's so I can go lower, but then I remember how much I love my Teins and just cant imagine selling them. Wish I could just go a little lower in front!!!!

well, if you want a better ride then the B & G's will be better. You might wanna think about getting the Tein SS b/c of the dampening adjustability.

I have B+G's and Its rides really nice, when i first got them installed it was practically slammed so the ride was a little bouncy but once i raisd the rear a little bit it rides amazing and im riding on 18's. All my mechanic used was the upper mounts. i have an 2002 ex by the way

The one thing you have to consider is that B&Gs have self adjusting dampening, while the SS you change. this is important because you can change some of the comfort level on the SS but you are stuck with the same ride on the B&Gs.

I have b&g's and I installed them myself this weekend. So far, I am impressed. I was going to go with Teins but I got the b&gs for 880 shipped way back in august and I couldnt pass them up. I decided on them because of the price and the roads here in upstate NY are pretty harsh and I wanted coilovers that could handle the abuse and leave me with a comfortable ride. The b&gs have a 2 year warranty i think and can be adjusted 1-4" drop. The selfadjusting setup creates a decent ride on the street but at some times it is a lil bouncy. However, I went out last night to a curvey road that runs along the mohawk river and really put them through some turns. They responded so well with almost no body lean and flex (this in combination with a rear sway, front and rear strut braces). You can see the pics in this thread .
They still have to settle so they will go even lower than what you see. Ill post updated pics after this week and when I readjust and retorque everything.

I would go with the TeinSS cuz you can adjust the damper. I have them and I finally found the perfext stiffness for them for daily driving. Philly has some rough roads and with my Teins set on a prety soft setting they ride 10X better than stock. I think they are perfect for daily driving.
A lto fo peopel say Teins dont go too low bur I have a 2 finger gap all around and i still can go about an inch lower cuz i have a lot of threads left.
And if you live in NY you wouldnt wanna slam your car either.... I wouldnt.

Why not? I'm real low and I love the ride. I've had no problems except scrappage. But I guess that's your opinion.

if you dont have a body kit its cool to just slam it. i'm saying that if the guy has any plans for a lip kit or anything being slammed in NY isnt a good idea.
