Tein Basic vs SS quality
Ok i have just been sittin on my a$$ deciding which one to get either Basic or SS... I am wondering does the Basic ride pretty good compared to stock??? I i race about every weekend is the basic gonna do the job or should i go and get the SS... My main question is how does the Basic's compare to the ride quality of stock???? and what was the cheapest price you found for your Basic's??

in terms of quality nothing. They will have the same spring rates, but like was said, the only difference is the adjustable dampening which i think you would want during racing.

Your talking about straight line stuff right? Its probably not going to make much difference if you didnt have adjustible shocks, if you were Road Racing/ autocross then I'd say they are a must. You can however use the shock adjustments to possibly give you a bit better launch chariteristics, but that depends on if you are willing to put in the time to test and tune. other wise you'd probably be perfectly Ok with the Basics.

What part of VA? If you are close to DC they race at FedEx field. check out www.scca.org for other regions. Me and some of my friends race down at fedex. Smaller races are held at Rosecroft raceway. www.autocrossers.com is the local area.

I got the SS, love it. Dont really mess with the damper to be honest, stiffen it up on a mountain run tho so thats fun.
Love to try autocrossing- but dont think my body kit and heavy rims would like it! LOL

Depends if you get shocks along with those GCs... GCs with Konis would be good vs the Teins. Remeber if you buy directly from ground control you can get custom spring rates, so you can make them as sporty or soft as you want.
Any one know the spring rates that come standard for our cars from Ground Control?
Find that out and we could tell you wich one would probably give a more comfortable ride and wich would give better handling.

Not really, The basic is for people who want good ride quality with adjustible ride height, the SS (Super [B]Street[B]) would be more performance based ONLY because it has adjustible shocks, so both should handle about the same (because both have the same spring rate), but the SS's could be tuned a little better due to the adjustible shocks....
from the sounds of things it seems like teins would be best bet, but only thing i dont like about em is they dont drop that low. i like about 2.25 drop in front and 2 in rear
I have the SS, and I keep them on their firmest setting. I tried the factory recommended SS settings, which are what the Basic is supposed to be fixed at, and it did not provide the kind of control I ideally wanted. I'm glad I went with SS. you should try to ride with someone who has the Basic and see if it seems fine to you. Also, I have them dropped all the way in the front and it works out perfect in the real world driving. No problems with most speed bumps or drive ways.
My SL65 rim, because a rim is all I can afford

I had the SS on my last civic, they where pretty nice. Worked well at the mid Ohio track too, so should be good for about any curvy situation. I found they where kind of hard to adjust for a drag type launch though, but I never really tried to tune for that.
basics would more than likely be fine though ... compared to stock its a whole different world.
As prices go Robearracing is having a group buy right now ... and I get my stuff from him. Never a complaint!
