Lowering

hey guys, any help here would be of great assistance
i have an 03 Si coupe, in Canada, which is the US' ex coupe. anyways i was thinking about lowering it. but i dunno if they changed the suspension in 2003 from the 2002 in the usa, but in canada they wentback to the double wishbone suspension in the rear. could someone tell me if that means that the lowering springs would have to be different for a 2k2 versus a 2k3? what about coilovers? i dunno too much abt this but would like to learn and well ya gotta start somewhere right. so any help here would be greatly appreciated and sorry if i sound like a dumb@$$ here. TIA

naw it hasnt always been double wishbone rear on 7th gen
check it out yourself, im positive about it. call your nearest honda dealership or do some research.

i know on canadian models but dunno abt US models that hats how it is. thats why the 2003's civic was the best change a 7th gen has seen, cuz the suspension drastically improved.

so anyone who knows abt this topic, plz reply. and trust me they DID go back to double in 2003 after taking it out in 2001 and 2002.

anyone who can help-your knowledge will be greatly appreciated!TIA

Did your read right? The "REAR" is double wishbone, but "FRONT" is Macpherson struts

If you still don't believe us, maybe you should call your honda dealer, and do some reseach

and this applys to all 7thgen civic (not 100% sure on 4door)

btw, 03 have a smaller front sway bar, and honda is not stupid. They won't change there suspension every yr within a generation. They will improve it, but not major changes !

oh ya, so if you want to use full coilover, you need to drill the front camber bolt holds a ill bit. from 14mm to 16mm, and depends what kind of coilover you're getting. Tein you need some parts from 01 etc. search will explain more.

I live in Canada I own a 2002 LX and my parents own a 2003 LX the suspension on both cars is exactly the same. Macpherson struts front, wishbone rear, suspension has not changed. Feel free to buy any 2001+ springs you want. Go to the dealership ask or if you still don't believe them then go look at a used 2001 and see for yourself...no change.

sorry guys, my mistake and i apologize for it. I didnt mean to come across so rude. in fact i was at my friends house and his lil bro decided to get in to the conversation and went a lil overboard with his cockiness. nonetheless, i was incorrect, i was confused by someone on another board. heres the truth from a guy at honda who pm'ed me on another forum.

Hey man, I just read your post on the suspension problems, I work at a honda dealer as a tech and every new style civic needs front shocks replaced. I think the 03 model it is finally fixed, it is covered under warranty and you get an allignment out of the deal. I hate when people post and dont know anything!!! if your shocks are leaking they will be replaced at no charge to you. Any questions pm me anytime. thx Scott
This may be of help to some of you, free shocks and an alignment aint nothing to compain about!Good luck and thanks for your help.
