How does the rsx-s rear sway bar fair?
How does it fair against, say another aftermarket rear sway bar. Im trying to get reasons why to get this over another one.

How about the fact that its 1/2 the price (1/3 if you get one used) and does the same thing? that usually goes over well in most peoples books.

Rep Power: 0 If i remember right the 03's have a smaller front bar than the 01's and 02's. You won't regret the RSX bar as it will give you a good balance. I've got an 02 with the larger front sway bar and i opted for the progress (22mm) bar. I have a little bit of overstter if i lift the throttle in mid-corner, but it's not an issue as long as i pay attention to it. I'm getting the progress front soon, but I'm hoping that it doesn't drastically change the balance because i'm fairly satisfied with my current set up.

Rep Power: 314 Yeah, Boilermaker has a point...$$$ is a BIG factor...however, I think, as soon as I can come up with the extra money, I'm gettin' the Progress 22mm rear, and maybe the 03 front for my 02. I think that'll help out a LOT...after that, the rest is up to ME, lol.

Rep Power: 0 Most people have had good results and like them, the only difference is most of the aftermarket ones are 22 mm, and the stock RSX-S sway bar is 19 mm, but it will make a difference if you drive your car hard in the corners.

Rep Power: 338 ^^ thats right, halfnhalf is getting some over steer, which is no surprise, but it's up to you and how you want your car to drive. I have read that the 19mm RSX bar gives the car a more neutral balance rather than oversteer when lifting off throttle in mid corners... I ordered mine, just waiting for it.

Rep Power: 0 It would be cheaper than the neuspeed or progress bars, yes. The Rsx-r bar is just the bar, it doesn't come with the tie-bar. Here are a few places online that carry them:

Looks like the cheapest would be around 100 shipped without the bushings. Personally I would do this and just buy some polyurethane bushings to go with it.

^^thanks for the links. now i'm seriously considering the rsx-r bar, but where can i get the brackets for the bigger bar (assuming i need bigger brackets to accommodate the 22mm bar and bigger bushings)?

They have the bushings and the brackets. I think one day I'm gonna dump an entire check on their products but even if I did I might still have $ left over.

Rep Power: 380 question, what other things have you done with your suspension? cause adding a 22mm rear bar is going to cause alot of oversteer on a mostly stock suspension.

Rep Power: 0 I do have a mostly stock suspension, but it really doesn't cause a lot of oversteer. It seems to even out the ride. I had way too much understeer on this thing. It could be that I've been used to driving rwd cars though. I've had 240sx's for the past 10 years.
If you're running on stock shocks and GCs or some soft springs, you'll be fine with a 22mm bar - at least I was. So long as you bring your car down a bit.
Now a 22mm bar with a stiff suspension - wow. It will definintely get a little tail happy - from what I learned today.

Then your not pushing it hard enough
(or you have an 01 thats got a super duper oversized front bar (25.4mm) or even the 02 thats got the 22mm bar, both of those would knock down that oversteer.)When I had my front bar dissconneted and the 19mm bar on th back, oversteer was just a throttle lift away, it was so much fun.

Rep Power: 0 Yeah, I do have the 02 bar up front. Trust me when I tell you that I push it. It is much more "tossable" now, but the oversteer still doesn't compare to the nissan.
I actually read your post about you disconnecting your front sway and ever since I have been very tempted. Unfortunately I'm not the only one who drives the car, and I don't think wifey would appreciate it.

i thought that you needed the bigger brackets to support the bigger bar?

Rep Power: 380 It will be much better then stock, and you wont have to worry as much about overseering in Higher speed corners as you would with the 22mm bar.
Of course this is dependant on the rest of the suspention as well as the skill of the driver, Im sure PlasmaGT, from driving RWD cars, is very familier with oversteer and probably knows what to do and what not to do when its happening. So for him a little overstter is no big deal, and actually helps with taking the corners if properly done. But for some one whos only driven FWD and probly hasnt much experiance of driving at the limit, oversteer would be dangerous.
