A quick and simple rim poll...

Few quickies on why you chose what you chose.... Pick from the following...

1. You bought your rims
- Based on looks alone
- Based on performance characteristics alone (i.e., weight, construction, strength ratings....)
- A mix of looks and performance, more for looks
- A mix of looks and performance, more for performance
- Both treated equal

2. Was price a serious issue or were you pretty free about what you would spend?
- Very tight... rims for less than $150 each
- In the middle... $250 or less
- Anything goes

3. Did you care about potholes?
Yes or no

4. How did you intend to use them?
- Summer only
- Track only
- All the time
- Shows only
-a combination (which ones?)

5. If you were going to buy another set, would you likely..
- Buy a more expensive set
- Buy something very similar to the ones you have in price and appearance
- Do something completely opposite of what you have now
- Get a set for a specific use (Shows or track only)

Just curious to see what the reasons are... elaborate all you want, and state what you have now... I'm just curious to find out what people were thinking.

I'll take the first swing....

1. Based on both, equal weight... 17" rims look good, 15 lbs is superlight for a 17 and they're very strong

2. Anything goes

3. Yes, but not too much

4. A combination of summer and track

5. I intend to get another set of wheels just for the track once I've finished some other stuff I want to do. They'll be 15's and probably forged.

The wheels I have now are OZ Superleggeras, 17x7, 37mm offset, 15.1 lbs each.

1. Based on looks, more than performance
2. Very tight.
3. A big YES .
4. Summer only. Winter and road salt sucks.
5. **Monty Python voice** "And now for something completely different."

get something less expensive in an 18" diameter that I could just DRIVE ON and forget about. I have to be too obsessive about the Volks. They are already off the car after less than 3K miles (going back on for NOPI Southeast & NOPI Nationals only)

I'm gonna talk myself into selling them if I'm not careful...

...state what you have now...
Volk GT-N Special Order Gunmetal 17 X 7; Offset +44mm

1. You bought your rims
- Based on looks alone; I guess performance is a factor if you look at the +2 factor and not the weight

2. Was price a serious issue or were you pretty free about what you would spend?
- In the middle... $250 or less; I wasn't ballin, but I didn't want the cheapest ones either

3. Did you care about potholes?
Yes, I cringe everytime I can't avoid one...

4. How did you intend to use them?
- All the time; its not that serious to keep switching wheels and tires out.

5. If you were going to buy another set, would you likely..
- Buy a more expensive set; I would go bigger and bolder... 18s or 19s in Gunmetal

I currently have Velox VX-8s, 17x7.5 with Toyo Proxes FZ4 215/45/17

1. I based my decision on looks alone.
2. I bought what I liked within reason. I would've really liked some BBS rims. But $450/each for a Civic? Maybe for an Audi or Bimmer down the road. Mine were $220/each
3. Yes. That's why I got 215/45.
4. All the time. My car is a daily driver and I just want it to look nice.
5. I'd buy the same rims, but maybe an inch larger. I've got 17s.
