Totally depends on the wheel offset and the alignment. If the alignment is set to spec, It'll take a fairly high offset for it to work. 215/45 might rub, and 205/50 is too big... go 205/45.

theres some guy that has 205/50/17 on his. how did he do that, and its on a 7th gen. i'd like to go with 50s since i wanna see a slower speed than i am really going.
according to the tire conv thingie, with 205/40/17s, my speedo is 6% fast. anyway, i will see the stock speed if i go with 215/45/17s

Low profile tires on rugged road sucks. 215-45 is a good size for such roads plus you can actually find a tire that's not only safer from preventing your rim from being bent, but you can find a tire that's quiet.
205/50/17? Is he on helium or something?

when i had 17s on my 01. I was riding on 215/45-17. Nice size and the closest to stock wheels diameter. The Kumho I had on were very durable, cuz I have drove on unpaved roads, dirt roads etc. And the tires never had problems.
