Tires ^^

I am new on cars. As what i seen on this picture. A 15inches wheel w/ tire is the same size (D) as a 17inches wheel. Is that right? But when you drive, would it be different? I mean will you feel the different? Will it be more difficult to drive? Thanks!

CIVIC LX Original Factory Size: 185/70-14

185 = ??
70 = ??
14 = the wheel size is 14 inches.. right?

For my car, a Honda Civic LX, after installed the body kit. It would be only 3 inches from the ground. It would be a hard time to go thought the speed bump and stuff. So, what wheel size should I buy to bring up my whole car higher? then i dun have to worry about the speed bump or somethin. Please tell me clearly step by step thing by thing. Cause I erally know nothing about wheels. Thanks!

Actually the combination of the wheel and tire is whats important here. Its not just the wheel. As far as height, you want to match the overall diameter of the stock setting... If you increase the height of the wheel, you decrease the height of the tire.

As for the width... this is also important. With a wider wheel, you need a wider tire to match. This width could cause problems with rubbing and turning in your car. The stock wheels are only about 6.5 inches wide, where aftermarket wheels are usually 7 inches and up in width.

You can use the tire calculator on this site to measure what size tire you should get to keep the same overall diameter and measurements as stock.

As for the drive... shorter/thinner tires have less area to absorb bumps, so the ride will be different than that of a taller/thicker tire... in other words, you will feel more bumps (not alot).

And the numbers.. 185 is the width of the tire in mm. 70 is the height or thickness of the sidewall. yes 14 is the wheel size.

I hope this helps.... some at least.

185=tread width in millimeters.
70=sidewall height, 70% of the 185mm width.
14=your rim size in inches.

As far as tire size I would go with a 215/40-17 or if you are concerned about the speed bumps or a rough ride go with 215/45-17. It will give you a little more sidewall for a smoother ride, either one will fit no problem.
