Will this fit ???

Basically, I want to get a Neuspeed Sport drop (appx. 1.7") but what I am wondering about is what tire size to get on 17" rims.

The prob that arises is that whenever I go to speedshops ... the rim/tire packages all come with 205/40R/17. But as we all know this setup is actually 4% off on the speedometer.

So I say to the guy, what will get me the same as stock and he decides to put me in 215/45R/17. Ok this is fine ... I dont mind getting these tires but now my question is with that 1.7" drop will the width of the 215 tire fit.

I hear things about people getting some rubbing in the back with a 215 tire. Should I just stick with the 205/40R/17 and will the difference in size, besides the obvious speedometer reading, cause any other problems (ex gearing etc ...) BTW, I have a manual transmission.

Get the 215/45's and if it does rub after your alignment just have the shop add a little more negative camber so the tire will tuck behind the fender.

Ok ... in that case 666 how would I know if it is rubbing in the back ... would I have to go over a big bump and hear a loud thud ... when the tire is hitting the fender well ??? Or would it just actaully rub from the drop (being no space between the tire and fender ???)

You wont have a problem with 215-45-17.

I have 215/40/17 and no problems. Since you're dropping your car 1.7 inches I'd go with the thinner tire. I personally also think the thinner tires looks better.
