What size should I stick with?

So I've got an '02 LX auto sedan. I read somewhere that I shouldn't go over 15-16 inch rims on an auto, for reasons unknown to me. Can anyone clarify this, or am I smoking the good stuff today?

So I guess that means I bought the good stuff. Okay, at least I'm not limited in size. Good to know, and thanks for the quick response.

Diameter isn't the problem... You can go to 19" if you want. Just make sure it's not more than 7.5" wide.

Yep I ended up with a choice on 17" or 18" and the price was too much for 18" rims and tires. So with the crap roads up here glad I got 17" rims with 215/45 yeah the tire is thick but better to be safe then having to replace rims where I live
