Lug Nut Size

ok, i need to order some lug nuts cause the ones that came w/ my rims are kind of crappy and started to rust.
i found some, but they come in 2 different sizes. and i have no idea what the size of my lug nuts is.
the choices are:

12x1.5"
12x1.25"

they are small diameter, and the company says they will fit any aftermarket rim, but i just need to know how long they need to be. any one know? also, if you bought lug nuts, what kind, where and how much did you get them for?

thanks

We've got 5 hoists, one bay w/o a hoist that we use for unloading tires. You used to be a tire tech?

i think u get 1.25 if your rims have a center cap that covers the lugs. becuase my ADR rims had center caps and i tried 1.50 but the center caps wouldnt go on.

so if u have center caps that cover the lugs get 1.25
if not get 1.50

im not 100% sure on what i said above.. anyone wanna verify for me?

All the lug nuts I've ever gotten were 12x1.5 & I've had new lug nuts with every set of wheels I've ever bought, around 5 sets, some with center caps & some without. 12x1.5 is what you need.

hey lead foo if i were you buy the spline drive lugs i had like 4 sets of lugs that rusted/stripped on me b4 i got smart and payed a lil extra for the spline drive ones i love em soo much and they make lke 10 diff colored ones so they go with what ever setup you have. spend the extra cash and get some awesome lugs that will never rust/ strip out and will match your rims.

i guess i was totally off.. lol

ok so our cars use 12x1.50

and now i think the reason my 2nd set of lugs did not fit was becuase they where the kind that where round on the outside but keyed on the inside. *(the key u get with the set connects to the lugs on the inside.. compared to stock lugs where the wrench grabs the outside hex shape. i think if u get those lugs with the key on the inside .. the lug uses half its length for the thread and the other half for the key shape. which is why its too long to be used with rims that have center caps covering the lugs.

so i think if u have rims with center caps that cover the lugs u cannot get "spline drive" style lug nuts. you have to get 3 regular style lugs *(the ones that are hex shaped outside aka stock lugs) that are very short and use 1 locking lug per wheel.

lol did i make any sense?
