New Motegi MR7 18's
I need to know what the best size tires i can get on my 2k2 Civic LX Coupe 5spd Rallye Red, on 18x7.5 rims, and i plan to get a 1.75" drop, so would 215-35-18/215-40-18/225-35-18/225-40-18 be the best, would like to get 225-35-18's, but im afraid of losing my handling/turning, and afraid of rubbing. Please Post me some info!!!
Thanx,

well coming from a person who has 40s... i HATE them.. too thick for 18s... i'm on neuspeed sports and my car looks stock height.. i dont think i can drop it any lower cause i only have a 1 finger gap... i think if i had a kit it would look nice but i dont plan on getting one so i wish i would have gone with 35s with neuspeed race...
225-35-18 would be perfect but ya it might rub.. i heard it doesnt, its a risk i personally would take...

Dont get 225/35/18, go with 215/35/18, lot cleaner looking, no chance of rubbing with 1.75 drop and handling is better. Plus it makes u drive a little slower goin over speed bumps so more people can check your car out.
i dont see how a 225/35/18 tire would rub.... even if you turn the wheel all the way, there should be a little bit of clearance left for the tire. is there anyone here who actually has and actually drives with 225/35/18?
would the offset of the wheel make a difference... i need to learn how the offset works on rims :-p

If you look at the tire calculator, going from your stock 185/70-14's on an LX to 225/35-18's, the new tires would be EXACTLY the size. The radius, diameter, circumference, and revolutions/mile. So, if you just replaced your stock 14's with the new 18's and got 225/35-18's and didn't get the car dropped it would be exactly the same height as stock. So, if they're the same exact size as the stock tires, then they shouldn't rub... Unless the stock wheels/tires on an LX rub when you lower it? lol

you have to remember the width... its 225 and not 185...
say you have what a 255-40-15 sure it'd be the same size as stock diameter wise but width wise, it just wouldnt fit.

all i gotta say ... is u better be watching ROAD HAZARDS on 215-35-18 tires ... one little pothole at 35-45 MPH is gonna bend the **** out of your wheel ..... they look great IMO, but just be careful when you drive ... specially on city streets

when i turn my steering wheel all the way either left or right.... i can observe that there is ample space for wider tires. the only way i can see rubbing is if the offset is too far inward or the drop is too low and the top of the tire rubs the fender. or you hit a bump too hard thus causing the tire to hit the fender.
255 would just be silly. thats a ten inch wide tire... something a muscle car should be wearing on the back tires stock.
ive gathered all this information through observation and calculation so if im wrong... be gentle :-p

that is why i love my tenzo 17's with 215/45/17's
dun really have to be TOO TOO careful, although i still avoid anything avoidable and attempt to avoid the unavoidable. hahaha as much sence as that makes. haha
