i wouldnt push 215. anything wider and your bound for problems, either with tire rubbin, or a possible blow-out if your fender wall punctures the tire. i have 215s front and back. no problem on the front, but with the rear, there is problem with camber. you cant have normal camber with tires this wide, unless you roll your rear fender well walls.

i think he means when you drop your car...

if your car is stock height i'm sure you could fit 225-40-18. with a 1.75" you might be able to get away with 225-35-18. but ya i would stick with 215 to be on the safe side. i have 215-40-18 with neuspeed sports, no camber kit and no problems with rubbing or anything.

nm falken tire says you could fit 215-40-18 tires on a 8.5" width rim... you might be able to get away with it...

i had 225 and had to dremel the inside rear lip. I also rubbed when I turned hard on the inside. I have netal showing now. 225 is way to wide!!! 215 is as wide as you get.

i have 225/40/18 supra kumho tires and they don't rub at all, the only reason it rubs if if i go off at a drive way fast. i think it is fine if you don't lower your car, but i feel too high so i am going to lower my car, i am going to get the rear wheel fender to get rolled out alot so i can go low, there is a problem that the paint can crack. so i guess i will just repaint.... the traction is freaking nice

I had 225-40-18 with a 1.5 inch drop. No rubbing at all. I now have 215-35-19s and am going to get 235-35-19s soon.

235-35-19 is just asking for trouble.. 215-35-19 may not be wide but the overall tire diameter is so big. you cant really drop the car much..i dont think 235 would fit, but hey maybe you could prove me wrong..
btw, what springs do you have? or do you have coilovers?
