Winter tires - width question
I'm gonna buy a set of Winter Tires for use on my Civic in Southern Ontario, Canada and need some help.
How can the tire width affect performance when it comes to winter tires? I have a choice of going with the stock size 185/65 on my 15" honda steel wheels or 195/60 which is very close in overall diameter.
We don't get a ton of real heavy snow here, just light wet snow and slush making the roads more slippery than anything. Not a ton of ice on the roads either.
Does a wider tire mean more or less traction? Does it differ between dry/wet/snowy/icey road conditions? I've heard in the past that a narrower tire will cut through snow better, not sure if that is true.
I'm considering the Michelin Artic Alpin and maybe some others if anyone has any suggestions for others I should be looking at.

Thanks for the reply DarkCivic, that's what I figured, I just wasn't sure.
On dry/wet roads though what is preferred? More tire on the road under those conditions = more traction right?
