High Speed Braking

When I was driving yesterday afternoon on the highway, in the fast lane, someone cut me off so I had to get on the brakes. I was going about 90 mph and when i hit the brakes it felt like there was something between the rotor and the pad, it made noise and but didn't effect the handling of the car. It wasn't a squealing sound, it sounded more like when you run over those little grooves on the edge of highway to wake you up when you start drifting. Once I got on the exit ramp at 50 mph the brakes were back to normal. Driving after that was fine, I've hit the brakes at 90+ mph before and never had this problem. Anyone have this problem before? I only have 9000 miles on the car and most are city miles.

I would say it probably was ABS if you don't have ABS then I would go look at the pads and see if you need new ones. If it were the rotors the steering wheel would shudder.

Yeah, I do have ABS, that sounds like it could be causing the problem. Thanks for the help.

It's not a problem though. It's supposed to happen. Helps you stop earlier.

OT: My cross-drilled rotors make a whirring noise when I step on the brakes real hard. Just though I'de throw that in...

yeah its just the abs ive had the same thing happen to me when i saw a cop at 125 and i locked em up and it made the niose until i got to about 75 and then it stopped but if your brake pedal shakes during the noise its the rotors or the pads. in that case take ot to honda and they fix for free one time only tho
