tire ratings?

i dont get how the tire ratings go. tread wear? speed rating? temp rating? what does the ratings mean? and how are the rated? any replies would be helpful.

Ok here is it:
M=up to 81 mph (130 km/h)
Q=up to 99mph (160km/h)
s=up to 112mph (180km/h)
T=up to 118mph (190km/h)
U=up to 124mph ( 200km/h)
H=up to 130mph (210km/h)
V=up to 149mph (240km/h)
W=up to 168mph (270km/h)
Y=up to 186mph (299km/h)
Z=over 149mph (240km/h)

Side note on that the tires acual capacity may be lower then the rated speed. As far as traction ratings most tires on the market will have a letter rating. For treadwear same most will have a rating of "A" with the exception of a few that will have a "AA" rating. For instance the Kumho Escta Supra 712 has a "AA" tread wear rating.
