how to tape off calipers to paint (pads etc)
how to tape off calipers to paint (pads etc)
Hey, i have read through all of the previous threads about this but am still unsure on the best way to go about it, id prefer to paint with liquid paint but cannot get any at local auto stores so im reduced to rattle can. Im worried about painting the springs or the pads.. i dont see how i can possibly tape off everything but the caliper.. any ideas from your bank of knowledge?? thanks!
Re: how to tape off calipers to paint (pads etc)
no prob. i painted mine with spray caliper paint (make sure it is high heat paint like caliper paint, or engine enamel) and i left them on the car while i painter them. it's easy.
if i did it again i'd do what i do now. just spray the paint into a can, use a bag to cover your hand, and paint it on.
but if you really want to spray it here's how i did it.
use tape to mask the small parst and newspaper taped down to mask off the wheel well and most of the rotors (if paint gets on the rotors it doesn't really matter since when you break it will rub off).
also use a tarp taped to the inside of the wheel wells on the out side of the car so the blow back won't land on your car.
