hi,my 03 civic has stock alloy rims with 185/65/R15 tires there are great in the summer but in the winter i cant get anywhere so i was wondering if the 14 inch LX steelies with 185/70/R14 would bolt up ok without any problems.just a winter setup.any help would be great,thanks

It'll play with your speedometer a little but, but not enough to worry about.. It'll make it read 1.1% fast (60mph indicated, 59.3mph actual)

will that effect the abs? and i assume the bolt pattern and offset would be the same but im not sure as to what years on the LX model i should look for in the junkyard.thanks

Nope.

Hell, if you can, find an 01-02 ex with steelies. the 01-02 ex's came with steelies with 185/65-15's. They started putting alloy's stock on the 03+ civics

well, if you're gonna go with 14's with a 185 treadwidth, they're gonna be just about the same width.. just sayin..

so what difference does putting 17s on the speedometer make on a 2001 civic lx?

depends on tire size. On my 02 ex (OEM wire size 185/65-15), going to a 215/45-17 made my speedometer .6% slow. With the 205/50's I have right now it reads 2.5% slow.

You'd be fine with the 14s (speedo will change slightly, as pointed out above). You'd also be fine on 15s (since they wouldn't be much wider than the 14s would be - certainly not enough to matter). I drive winters on 195/60/15, in Winnipeg, so trust me... 15s are just fine.

i live in haverhill,ma and i am running 195/60/15 tire now but the problem is its to hilly around here and ounce you get stuck in traffic and then try to go your not making it up any hills,thats the only reason i was looking at 14 inch rims to see if could put a narrow tire on it
