I'm pretty sure all Civic's from 2001 to 2005 came with electronic brakeforce distribution so long as you have ABS.

Re: EBD on the 7thGen Civic's???

ABS is ABS.
Electronic brake force distribution is a form of traction control... if the car senses a slide, it throws braking around to try and match the wheel speeds and keep the car pointed in the right direction.
These things are devoid of any form of traction control....

Re: EBD on the 7thGen Civic's???

Thing is EBD was something that was included if you optioned ABS, which is why I said the ABS cars have it.

Was under the impression EBD was some form of electronic controlled brake proportioning which sends more brake force to wheels with more traction. Thats what the Audi site said awhile back.

Okay this the deal. I jus got off the phone with Honda Canada and asked them if the 2001-2005 Acura EL's have EBD and was told NO only the 2003-2005 EL's came with it so us 2001-2002 got the Ashton Kutcher treatment... PUNK'D

Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) Control

The electronic brake distribution (EBD) function helps control vehicle braking by adjusting the rear brake force before the ABS operates. Based on wheel sensor signals, the ABS control unit uses the modulator to control the rear brakes individually. When the rear wheel speed is less than the front wheel speed, the ABS control unit retains the current rear brake fluid pressure by closing the inlet valve in the modulator. As the rear wheel speed increases and approaches the front wheel speed, the control unit increases the rear brake fluid pressure by momentarily opening the inlet valve. This whole process is repeated very rapidly. While this is happening, there is kickback at the brake pedal.

During self-diagnosis, if the ABS control unit detects a problem that affects the EBD, it turns on the brake system indicator and the ABS indicator.
Found that.

Re: EBD on the 7thGen Civic's???

My car is the LX-G Civic. If I could go back in time, I'd have gotten the Acura EL for the couple hundred bux more.

Canadian LX-G is equivalent to the US EX in 2002 without the sunroof and with a non VTEC engine. I get some other stuff EX didn't get too like heated mirrors.

I'm still pretty sure EBD was in the features list for my car.
Google hasn't been much help.

The LX-G sedans came with everything.
The LX-G coupes did not have ABS and such. If I remember correctly, even the Si coupe (2 door EX equivalent) had ABS as optional (Comes on Si-G group option package).

Forgot to mention I drive a sedan.

Man I can't find nuttin on the 2001 EL's. No service manual. Im real curious if the 2001-2002 EL's had EBD cause I kno the 2003-05 have em for sure. But if the 2001 Civic's got em why wouldn';t the EL's???
