Tire Ratings/Overview

Can anyone direct me to web-based tire ratings? I've copied the Consumer Reports ratings from the local library, and I've seen consumerreviews.org. But I'm looking for the absolute quietest and most comfortable tires available and I can't find a source that compares them all (well, as many as possible).

TIA,
Philip

i was looking for the same as you. ended up getting bridgestone turanza as recommended by an old member and they are super quiet and still have tons of tread at 30k miles with average driving. they are a tad heavier, but its more of a luxury tire. comes stock on acura TL. but yea check tirerack they have great ratings and reviews. also a google search does wonders just go to forums and see what people say. sometimes its better than a consumer report because these are actual car owners who use em on daily basis.

Quiet tires

Thank you both very much for the replies. I've narrowed the field down. For future inquiries, the following tires are reported to be quiet:

Michelin X Radial (most expensive of the bunch, c. $100)

Hankook Mileage Plus II H725plus (reasonable, c. $50)

Goodyear Assurance TripleTred ($80?)

Goodyear Assurance Comfort ($80? -- not sure --supposedly even quieter then the Triple Tred)

Yokohama Avid TRZ (haven't checked price yet)

Bridgestone potenza (haven't checked price yet)

Bridgestone turanza (haven't checked price yet)

Good luck!

A final comment for Gearbox

Gearbox, you contributed heavily to a couple of threads on noise deadening and noise reduction. I found your comments very helpful and wanted to say "thanks." I copied the posts over to my hardrive so I'd always have them handy.

Here's to quiet motoring!

Re: Tire Ratings/Overview

Hey for tire ratings information here are a few other links. The last one is just a good fun read. The first is the "official government stuff" and the middle one put the government speak into human speak.
