ronal LS rims...thoughts?

hey, this isnt my car, but this is exactly what mine would look like with these rims. i have a black 99 miata. opinions? the rims look very much like OEM BBS miata rims from the 95 year. those BBS's were 15x6 and weigh 12 lbs...they go for about 800+/rim now.

these rims: Ronal LS Mesh 25mm offset 15 X 7.5 with a 195-50-15

i PMed the owner asking about weight of the rims...

edit: just found out they weigh almost 17lbs....that sucks. oh well, they look good...but i guess not an option anymore. lol

17 lbs for a cast 15x7.5 isnt *that* bad
rims gain weight faster with width than they do with diameter.

Spoken like a true ricer.
You obviously aren't aware of the fact that there is a BBS-Japan, and that BBS makes quite a few wheels exclusively for sale in Japan.

Spoons are made in Russia, OZ makes some of the Mugen wheels, I guess they'd look pretty tight on my Fiat huh?

theyre STOCK rims on the 95 miata...

and wtf is an "asian" wheel? lol

boiler...yeah, but my 17x7 tenzos were like 17-18lbs...why would i get a 15" rim that weighs almost as much when there are plenty other much lighter options? maybe not at a 7.5, but a 7" wide rim isnt bad either for everyday driving. i dont do much auto-x, so thats not really a concern. i want the light weight though.

Because the inertia of a 15" rim is far less than the inertia of a 17.
Most wide rims are a fair bit heavier than their skinny counterparts.
example... 16x7 RPF1s are 13, my 16x8 RPF1s are a touch over 15. Only difference is the 1" of width.

do you notice the weight at acceleration though? i understand that a lot of what i was noticing was the inertia of a bigger rim size when i had the 17s, but an 17lb rim isnt light either.

what i mean is, comparing a 15x7.5 17lb rim with a 15x7 14lb rim, will you be able to feel the difference while driving/accelerating? or i guess in your case, a 16x7 at 13lbs vs a 16x8 at 15lbs?

not really. When you look at inertia, the mass makes up much less of a problem than the radius, which is squared in the equation. mass tightly centered around the axis of rotation vs mass way out from the rotation center is the problem. a pound or 2 on the same radius... is pretty negligible. I never really noticed a difference when I switched. But my 16x8s weigh what my 17x7s do, and that can be felt by the butt dyno.
