Tread Wear
So I rotated my tires this past weekend only to discover my front tires are going bald in the middle. I always thought middle wear was indicative of too much pressure. I had been running 32 all around until the past couple of weeks (205/60R15 Michelin Pilot XGT H4 Tires). I've been reading about increasing the pressure in the front for better turning so I was "tuning" by increasing to 37f/32r. The minimal increase couldn't have caused this much wear in a couple of weeks could it? From what I read, the recommendation was 42f/38r for AutoX, which I thought would be overkill for spirited daily driving so I kind of averaged.
The tires have about 25,000 miles on them and have been rotated twice before.
Rear - now front (good tread):

Front - now rear (bald in the middle):

And to add fuel to the fire, the two good tires each have a nail in them too! Argh!

Yes, wearing the center is a sign of too high of tire preasures. and Yes, Running what some would consider "compitition" preasurs will cause increased wear on your tires if used Daily on the street. (This is why most of us autocrossers and open track drivers have two sets of wheels/tires, one for street and one for track).

So running higher pressure for a couple of weeks can cause that much wear? I guess it's the price for faster corners. What would be a compromise pressure to help save tread but to enjoy corners?
A good compromise would be less air pressure. Not to be an ***, but different tires are happy at different pressures. Also, your front tires are always going to wear quicker, they not only have to brake, but also turn and accelerate. Rotate your tires often and keep a good eye on tire pressure. This is the only way to make your tires last. Plus, because you blatantly stated that you did this for better handling, you were probably driving hard, which doenst help anything.
