Winter tire recommendations.......

Hey guys, I live in freakin WI and it not only gets cold as *** here but it also snows alot to and I'm thinkin about getting some winter tires.

Chicago, Michigan, Minnesota, where ever there is a bunch of snow post up. U know what it can be like to drive in the snow!!!!

If u've ever had winter tires, what did u think about them? Where they significantly better than stock 15's and what kind/price/etc.

Also, Would it be ok just to put them on the front? I know that having different grips is sometimes considered bad but i just need help w/ the front tires getting some traction so that I can start driving otherwise they just slip like *** unless I just ride the clutch and dont give it any gas.

(stock tires, 04 EX 5 speed. 26k miles)

Thanks

You need to put them on all 4 for them to be effective, and anything is better in the snow than stock tires. If you're planning on lots of snow, snow tires are a very smart move.

Blizzaks or Alpins are probably the better ones. Theres some tire called Nokian that I've heard good opinions on. I'm sure theres good and bad, but anything dedicated to snow is going to be better than an all season in the slick stuff.
the more grooves and stuff in the tread to bite in, the better.

I have these and for them being soo cheap they perform very well. Went through one michigan winter on stock and one on these and there was a huge difference.

Any snow tire is ok, if u jus do normal driving. Our Corolla has the cheapest tires from Walmart and it runs fine in snow, and I got some BFGoodwrench winter tires on my vic, but havent driven them in snow yet.
