Rims I'm getting
Well I think these are the rims I am getting. I am getting a pretty sweet deal through work.

I will be putting toyo proxies tires on in size 225/45/17.
what do you guys think of this setup.
Oh yeah, here's a few pics of my car.

Those hubbies have got to go.
It's an 05 rally red vp.

speedo has nothing to do with the width of the tire, i.e 225/40, 215/40, or 205/40...they're all the same height
he may want to consider 215/40r17s though..the 45s might make your speedo be off a bit
i also have 215/40r17s as well and i have no rubbing issues and lowered with Tein s-techs. haven't noticed a significan't error in the speedo reading either

you see that right there next to your avatar and under your name?
yeah you're new...it also tells me you know little to nothing about your tires and need to be informed before informing others...please read the stickies and credible websites before posting about things you don't understand...thank you
that second number of your tire size has everything to do with how "tall your tire is" the 3 digit number is the width so like i said go read up please...
and if anyone has a question about how much diff your speedo will be off...check on discount tire's website they have a size cal to tell you...each tire size changes the speed albeit maybe a half mile but it still is a difference...because not every tire completes the same number of revolutions /minute
I am running a 215/45/17 and it has very little effect on my speed-o (1.62% slow or when your speed-o says 61 your doing ~60). I chose this size because I wanted a fairly wide tire (for a civic anyway) with some MEAT between the road and my rims. I am running this on a rim with an offset of 40 & the tire is almost flush with the edge of my fender. So with a 225 depending on rim offset & how much you drop you could rub. Also there is a tire calculator on this site (LINK) this way YOU can look and see how far off the dimensions of the new tire would be. Good luck!

215/40/17 or 215/45/17 will throw your speedo off around the same amount. 215/40 will actually throw your speedo off just a tad bit more.
Obivisiouly you can't notice a difference in the speedo. That's like driving without a speedometer and saying I'm going exactly 60 mph, not 61, and not 59, exactly 60. You can't judge your speedometer that well. No one's going to notice the difference in their speedometer, but it will be thrown off no matter which size tire you get. 205/45/17 is the closest your going to get to the stock tire size.
I think 40's or 45's depend on how much you are going to low it.
