Selecting rim size etc.

K, I busted up my car a bit and in the process I bent 3 of my steelie rims.

So I'm using this as an excuse to get some aluminum rims and some decent tires. I got some company called Mastercraft on there right now. I got Eibach Sportlines dropped almost 2.5" on stock struts. What's the largest size I could go with without any tire rubbing etc?

What other things do I need to worry about when selecting rims?

Thanks for your help everyone...

I highly doubt you're dropped 2.5" on sportlines unless you cut them
If you busted 3 rims, you better get the rest of your suspension looked at
You probably won't get anything bigger than a 16 under there because of tire widths.
If you're dropped 2.5" on stock struts you got bigger problems that what size rim will fit.

Trust me, I'm all over the inspections... It's pretty bad, but I'm dealing with it the right way, no quick fix ****. And I'm only going by what the guy said that had it before me. He put on the springs, and nothing else. I know it's retarted.

But, so I am right about putting in 16's? Somebody told me 18's, I gave them a crazy look... But what about width? What's the ideal?

Ok... do the following. Raise it up at least 3/4". For your steering box's sake, do it. You may even want to have the seals looked at to be sure that they're not already screwed up. You dump this car, it hyperextends the tie rods and you trash the gearbox.
Then once your LCAs are fixed and whatever else may be wrong (scanned the other thread) replace everything. I'd probably even go as far as to replace the upper mounts. $50, its worth it. Get the rest of the works, camber, NEW springs, new dampers, all that ****. Once you have all that, get yourself some decient wheels and tires.
You won't get a 16 thats not 7" or more wide. So plan on 7". With the car lowered 1 3/4" (thats like a Neuspeed sport) you can pretty much go with any tire and probably not worry about it if you set your camber correctly.

Thanks for everything? So how much would you say I'm lookin at here? Figure I'll spend about $390 on rims, don't know how much for tires. I want BFG Traction T/A's, I hear they're really good tires all around and I like BFG anyway. $50 for upper mounts ($450), then I got hookups at CarQuest for my LCA(s) plus anything else that's busted. I'm gonna put in the good stuff (i.e. MOOG if you know what that is). Then I got camber, springs, struts... Unless I go with coilover.

And for the steering box, I got on the rear rim on blown tire and the front is on the spare tire. That's how wheeled it back to the shop. Is that ok? Or should I put it on the stands right away?

Also, I've wanted a coilover set for this car since I realized I was gonna need to redo the suspension anyway. But there are way to many options out there. Since you're feeling helpful today, could you assist me with this too? I want to put a lip kit on my car, but with as much drop as I got now I'm just a hair to low for parking bricks. So what would I want to go with? I'm looking to go with the right stuff, nothing crappy for a better price. I want the best deal. Nothing full auto-x quality or drag style. I just want something that will take what i've been giving these springs, I can take a nice size S-curve at 70 mph easy with these shitty set-up.

Thanks!

I don't understand what the steering box has to do with what tires are where at the moment. You need to have the rack on the firewall looked at. Get it done once the suspension is fixed.
There's no coilover thats not going to be rough. Cheapest way to go, and its not a bad one, is Konis and ground controls. Order the ground controls with 6" rear springs (thats longer than the off the shelf kit). Thats about $850 there. Camber junk is $150ish so theres 1000, figure 750 for wheels and rubber, tack on the suspension repair parts and you're looking at a lot of money.

Is there a cheaper route for the suspension? And now I understand what you meant by the steering box's comment.

I don't got time till school starts again to make 2g's. I take 5 day a week morning to night... What struts would be good for let's say a 2" drop since you said a 2.5 isn't possible?

Thanks for all the help.
