Need help choosing tire size for 18's
Need help choosing tire size for 18's
I plan on getting some 18 inch wheels for my 05 civic ex coupe. I'm a little confused in which tire size I should get. 225/35/18 would be the closest match to stock according to the tire calculator. I've noticed that many shops offer 225/40/18 tires with 18 inch wheels. I've also noticed that 225/35/18 are more expensive and are harder to find. I could easily go with the cheaper more common 225/40/18 tires, but I have to consider my suspension also. I'll be getting some tokico blues with tien s tech springs. From what I hear, that's a 1.5 inch drop, that's plenty for me. I don't want to have any issues with rubbing or turning. Should I just get the 225/35's? Would there be any issues with the 225/40's? What about 215/40's? I don't mind a small wheel gap and I'm not looking to tuck my wheels. But I don't want a large four finger gap either.
It's Nice To Be Important, But It's More Important To Be Nice.

I like that combination!
if you put a 225/35 or a 225/40 w/ a 1.5 drop you are going to rub on the inside of the fender well when making hard turns. i know because i have the neuspeed sport (1.75/1.5) and 225/40's on my car and they rub a little

Do your tires pull back away from the lip a lot, or is it pretty much even? I don't like how it looks when the wheel lip hangs out a lot. I just thought a little extra lip protection would be a good thing. But not if I'm gonna be rubbing. I guess the slightly thinner tire would help with the tires not rubbing. I believe your wheels are 18 x (7.5) with a 43 offset, right?

If i could go back , I'd went with 215/35/18
I'm running 215/40/18 with Tokico blues/H&R 1.3'' all around
and I (used to) rub all the time when I have a passenger or more riding with me
so I rolled the fender in(rears) , it still rubs a little when I turn hard, but it's better now
I'd get 215/35 (no issues whatsoever)

id say 215/40/18. i also have 8 inch WIDTH, i can drop pretty hardcore on my D2's without rubbing at all.
i really think 35 is too thin for where i live. But if your roads are good 35 looks sexier! but if not 40 is fine too!
