Tires...Tires...Tires?!?!?!?!

Once again I'm looking for help,

Well I've had my car for 3100 miles, and the tires are not cutting it. I drive my car quite spirted on the mountain roads around my city and my tires are quite limiting. Not to mention the fact for everyday driving they are total crap. If I slam on my brakes the abs kicks in right away. It has happened soo man times on the freeway I know I'll get in an accident sooner or later. No I don't follow too close...in fact I leave a lot of space. The abs problem has been happening more frequently after the drop on the car.

So after debating and talking it over with my dad and mechanic. Its time to upgrade the tires. My dad has left the tire choice to me completely, as long as I keep them under 80 dollars a tire. I have the stock ex rims so 80 bucks a tire isn't that bad.

My question is what kind of tires do u recommend. I was thinking falkins, but I'm not sure what type. I want the tires to last me awhile...at least 30k I guess. I think thats reasonable. Honestly I don't mind changing tires every year, but the problem is I'll be going to college up in Santa Cruz, California and I dunno any places that do cars up there.

Please recommend tires that you will feel fit. That give me more performance and grip. I'm not looking for an econmical buy. I want something that will really grip, but at least last me 15-20k.

Thanks Mucho,

if you are going to keep your stock wheels i would go with a little wider tire, probably a 205/60r15. in that size falken, yokohama, dunlop, kumho and pirelli make good tires that cost less than 80 bucks each. just do some research online to figure out which tire would best fit your needs.

mmm i love bridgestone turanza LS-H. beats firestone in every way. Very quiet, excellent traction dry and wet, great cornering, etc. Buy from Tirerack.com

For sure I'll reserach. This is just part of it. I know a bunch of guys that compete in d1, so Im going to go talk to them.

The tires u guys are talking about, are they high performance? or just more towards everyday buyers....I kinda want goo a little hardcore...

mine is normal size grand touring for all around performance. Usually more aggressive tires tend to be noisier/wear out faster. So you need to decide whats important.

falken ziex 512s are good, they are pretty quiet overall, and the treadwear warranty is 50k miles.

Well noted about the tread wear being faster and noise is ok by me. Im trying to really make this car all about handling. Although its a daily driver, I won't mind the increase in noise. I'm not trying to go for comfort, or quietness. Sry if I kinda hinted in that direction. I kinda felt when I first posted it might have pushed towards that, but I really wanna go for performance.

15-30k on a set of tires is fine by me. As long as they really really give me good handling.

On a side note. I hear those falkins kick some serious ***....I'm really considering them.

Thanks again for all the replies....

Bridgestone G009 or BFG Traction TA would be my picks.....
