205 vs 215 series

these tires will be daily driven on and mainly see dry pavement and few times rain. cali weather

205/45/17 vs 215/45/17

advantages and disadvantages?
would the 205's let me lower my car more? or is it not worth the skinner tire just for little much?

OT: whats the least/most offset you can go with a 17x7" rim and 17x7.5" ?

I have 205/45/17...It's a little less sidewall than 215 according to the tire calculator. You could lower the car more with 205. I have heard of people rubbing with 215 and switch to 205 and problem solved...so I recommend 205 45...Plus I like the look of the 205 because you don't have tire baloon out from the rim...It's more flush than 215...Hope this helps

I have 215/45R17, wish I went 215/40 or 205/45.

205-45-17 all the way!

I love the ride quality and I can drop my vic to one finger gap or no gap without rubbing. 215's will rub if the drop is too low. It's a little harder to find that size across all tire brands, but you can get Falken, Yoko, Kumhos in that size. (Unfortunately, you can't get Nitto NeoGens or Toyo Proxes 4 in that size--at least not that I've seen yet)

You're looking at an almost invisible difference. I've always used the 215s with no problems (make it stiff enough and align it right, you can go pretty low)... its also curb protection. Offset wise 35 will just about hit flush to the rear fenders so thats probably as low as you want, high end, the lower the worse your issue will get. You'll have problems with the gas filler neck and associated equipment back there, as well as the unibody sleeve around the rear shock.
