brake rotor removal

Hey 7thgen, I almost just royally screwed myself 15 mins ago. I bought a set of AEM big rotors and i was installing them today but when it came down to the 2 philips head looking bolts holding the rotor, they started to round off when i was trying to remover them. Obviously i stopped to prevent further embarrassment. Now I was wondering if anyone else ran into this and what did you do to remove them? Thanks

I used an impact driver. They came right out with no problem.

if your talking about the 2 screws that hold the rotor. all I did was stick in a screwdriver in the screw and hammer it like once or twice.

To hell with the screwdriver... get a 1/8" drill bit, start stepping up and drilling out the head Eventually you'll get it and the rotor will come off. then stick the 1/8" back in there and run the stub out the back. If you do it well, you may even be able to grab the stub with vice grips and just turn it out. The head likes to heat fuse it self on.

i was poking humor at myself....lol.

Hey Boilermaker, I was actually thinking that working on them while coming off a drive wouldve helped to expand them to make it easier to remove but i guess it just made them softer.
